Koenig, 55, 3679 Cloverfour Road, New Bremen, died at 6:54 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, in the emergency room of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys following a sudden illness. She was born Feb. 14, 1945, in Sidney, the daughter of George Voress Sr. and Freda May (Earl) Voress. Her mother survives in New Bremen. On Sept. 4, 1965, she married Roger E. Koenig, who survives. Other survivors include a son, Mark (Angie) Koenig of New Bremen; two daughters, Kendra (Mike) Sindelar of Franklin, Ind., and Mary Ann Lee of Spencerville; two brothers, George (Karen) Voress Jr. and John (Ginny) Voress, both of New Bremen; a sister, Judith Voress of Austin, Texas; and seven grandchildren. Mrs. Koenig was currently in her 33rd year of teaching, having taught in the St. Marys and New Knoxville school systems and was teaching the learning disabled classes at the New Bremen junior and senior high schools at the time of her death. A graduate of New Bremen High School, she received a bachelor's degree in education from Ohio Northern University and a master's in education from Wright State University. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in New Bremen with the Rev. John W. Tostrick officiating. Burial will be in the German Protestant Cemetery in New Bremen. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Gilberg Funeral Home in New Bremen. Memorials may be directed to a scholarship fund to be established at the New Bremen High School or to the New Bremen Emergency Squad.
