Additional: LaVera W. Haberkamp, 64 409 N. Perry St., died at 1:50 p.m. Sunday April 7, 1985 at Kettering Memorial Hospital, Dayton, following an extended illness. Vernon W. Haberkamp, 71, 469 N. Perry St., died at 4:43 p.m. Sunday, April 7, 1985 in the emergency room of Stouder Memorial Hospital, Troy. Mr. Haberkamp suffered a massive heart attack on Interstate 75 while returning from Dayton of St. Marys with family members. He died shortly after his arrival in the hospital emergency room. Mrs. Haberkamp was born Aug. 27, 1920 in St. Marys to Frank and Emma (Kruse) Mees. Mr. Haberkamp was born Jan. 12, 1914 in Noble Township to Herman H. and W.C. Amanda (Wierwille) Haberkamp. The Haberkamps were married Feb. 27, 1937. Surviving are a son, Kurt W. of St. Marys, a foster-daughter, Mrs. Mark (Deborah) Duncan of St. Marys; two grandchildren and three foster- grandchildren. A son, Mark V., and a granddaughter, Dawn Ann, are deceased. Mr. Haberkamp is also survivied by a sister, Mrs. John (Margaret) Weadock of St. Marys and two brothers, Wilfred of Toledo and Paul of Woodburn, Mich. A brother, Earl is deceased. Mrs. Haberkamp is survived by a sister, Catherine Cable of Sidney. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Mees, and an infant brother and sister. Mr. Haberkamp retired in 1979 from the local plant of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company where he was a machinist. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II and was a member of VFW Post 9289. Mrs. Haberkamp was retired from McBroom School where she had been the head cook in the cafeteria. The Haberkamps were both baptized and confirmed in the St. Paul's United Church of Christ. He had served as a deacon and elder, was a longtime member of the choir and a member of the former Men's Asosciation of the Church. She was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women's Guild of the Church. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Dennis E. Snell officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Long and Folk Funeral Home Yoder Chapel. Memorials may be directed to the church endowment fund.
