Additional: James D. Hegemann, 60, 86 S. Hanover St., Minster, died at 10 a.m. March 3, following a sudden heart attack. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He was born Nov. 8, 1940, in Minster, to Herbert and Irene (Fischer) Hegemann. On Aug. 27, 1966, he married Linda S. Cooke, who survives. Other survivors are a son and his wife, Heath and Julie of Minster; two daughters and their husbands, Hope and Joe Rethman, Maria Stein, and Holly and Rod Frericks, Minster; a brother and his wife, Kenneth and Susan of St. Marys; and five grandsons. Deceased are an infant son and a sister. He was owner of Store and Lock in Port Clinton, retired from Ohio Department of Transportation in Sidney, former owner and operator of Hegemann's Landing, and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in Okinowa. He served as past president of Lake Loramie Improvement Association and as a Cub Scout leader, a founding member of Newland-Horstman Scholarship Fund, and founder of Hegemann Open, Minster. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles 1391, American Legion, TPA, and Cataract Fire Company, all of Minster, AMVETS, St. Marys, DECA Stock Club, Minster Investment Club and Turtle Point Fishing Club. He was a graduate of Miami Jacob College, Dayton, and a 1958 graduate of Minster High School. Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. David Heinl officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Calling is 7-9 p.m. today, 2-9 p.m. Tuesday, and 9-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in the church cemetery. Contributions can be made to Newland-Horstman Scholarship Fund or Minster Area Life Squad.
