Additional: New Knoxville, O. April 11. George Hoelscher, 88 of 105 North East street, died of complications at 2 a.m. today in Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys. He had been ailing for some time. Mr. Hoelscher was a retired farmer and native of Auglaize County. He was born January 10, 1879, a son of the late Ernst and Adeline Wellman Hoelscher. He married Anna Lammers on May 15, 1901. She preceded him in death on October 3, 1966. He is survived by five children, Mrs. Harvey (Esther) Elshoff, of St. Marys, Mrs. Leonard (Martha) Schroer, Mrs. Vernon (Ruby) Jauert, Noah and Elmer Hoelscher, all of R.R. 1, New Knoxville; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one brother, Emil Hoelscher of R.R.1, New Knoxville. One child died in infancy and two brothers, William and Lewis Hoelscher and two sisters, Mrs. George (Matilda) Cook and Mrs. George Bierbaum are also deceased. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ and the Bible Class. Funeral services will be held in the church at 2 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Kenneth H. Worthman officiating. Burial will take place in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may call at Vornholt funeral home in New Knoxville after 1 p.m. Thursday until 11 a.m. Friday when the body will be removed to the church to lie in state until the final rites. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
