Additional: Wapakoneta—Dr. Edward S. Heffner, 84, practicing physician here for more than 60 years, died at 8:55 a.m. Saturday in St. Rita's Hospital, Lima, following an extended illness. He was born May 11, 1881 in Celina, the son of George and Lucinda Karch Heffner. He was graduated from Celina High School in 1900. He studied medicine under the late Dr. D. H. Richardson before entering the Medical College of Ohio at the University of Cincinnati from where he was graduated in 1904. Dr. Heffner began practicing medicine here Oct 31, 1904, and a year later was elected coroner of Auglaize County. He continued his practice until 1918 when he left to become a surgical assistant at the medical college in Cincinnati. He returned in 1919. Dr. Heffner was a member of First English Lutheran Church and served on the church council 19 years. He holds 50 year memberships in the local Hammer Lodge 167, Free and Accepted Masons and Chapter 183, Royal Arch Masons. He also was affiliated with the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton, the Auglaize 32 Club and Koneta Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, the Auglaize County Medical Society, of which he served as president 19 years, Ohio Medical Society and American Medical Society. Surviving are his wife, Adella; three sons, Dr.George of Charleston, W.Va., James of Fort Worth, Tex., and Frank, stationed with the U.S. Coast Guard in Chicago; two daughters, Mrs. Ernest (Margaret) Graham of Hialeah, Fla., and Caroline, at home; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in First English Lutheran Church, Rev. David Ullery officiating. Place of burial has not been determined. Friends may call at Heinl and Son Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Monday. The body will be removed to the church at 9 a.m. Tuesday to await services.
