Additional: New Bremen, April 20—Funeral rites were conducted Thursday afternoon in the Gilberg and Hegemier funeral home in New Bremen for William Frederick Frey, 66, former village official and Auglaize co. commissioner, who died in his residence from a cerebral hemorrhage. Rev. J.C. Melchart of St. Paul's Church officiated. Burial was made in the German Protestant Cemetery. Frey, who had been ill three years and seriously ill several days was born Oct. 6, 1877 on a farm near New Bremen, the son of Fred and Elisabeth Groh Frey. He married Martha Bertram, June 23, 1911 and she is left with three children, Walter, Dorothy and Marion. Mrs. Laura Kuck of Detroit is a sister. A former Auglaize Co. commisioner two terms, later marshal of the village and after that street commissioner for several years, Frey suffered a stroke while attending a council meeting in May 1942 and had been an invalid since that time. He suffered another stroke a week before his death. After many years of farming Mr. and Mrs. Frey came to New Bremen to live 24 years ago. He was a member of Zion Evangelical and Reformed church and had served as a member of the church consistory.
