Additional: Wanda L. Engel, 78, Court Street, Wapakoneta, died at 2:53 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001 at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born Aug. 31, 1922 in St. Marys, the daughter of Dewey and Maude (Hertenstein) Eshleman. In 1943, she married Guy W. Engel, who died in September 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Janet Powell of Wapakoneta; two brothers, Standford (Mary) Eshelman of Minster and Norm (Shirley) Eshelman of St. Marys; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Eshleman of St. Marys. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Eshleman, and a brother, Eldon Eshleman. A homemaker, Mrs. Engel had worked with the West Ohio Gas Co. and as a bookkeeper with Ted Ruck Nationwide Insurance in Wapakoneta. A 1940 graduate of Memorial High school in St. Marys, she was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta with the Rev. G. Richard Bell officiating. Burial will follow at the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church.
