Additional: Beryl W. Baker, 78, formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 4:30 a.m. April 6, 2002, at the St. Marys Living Center. She was born July 28, 1923, in Albany, N.Y., to the Rev. W.E. and Anabelle (Barnes) Baker. Surviving are two brothers, Dr. Ralph of St. Petersburg, Fla., and the Rev. Elmer of Blue Springs, Mo. She attended grade school in Ravena, N.Y., and graduated from Litchfield High School in Litchfield, Mich. She received a bachelor of science degree from Ohio Northern University, Ada, and a master's of education degree in administration and guidance from Bowling Green State University. She retired in 1977 after teaching and/or working as a guidance counselor in Michigan, Lima, Elida, Wapakoneta and Greenville. She spent a year as an exchange teacher in Honolulu. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta, the Grange, Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine, Tri-Moraine Audubon Society, Allen County Herb Society, the Homemakers Extension Club, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Auglaize County Retired Teachers Association. Services are 2 p.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Howard Toback officiating. Private burial services will be held in Fletcher. Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys, has charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Contributions can be made to the church.
