Additional Information: Mrs. Mary E. Heil, formerly of 327
South Main Street, died at 8:45 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 1974, in
the Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys, where she had been a
resident for the past month. Mrs. Heil, 83 years old had been
in failing health for the past year. The daughter of William
and Amanda (McGrew) Shinabery, she was born October 23, 1890,
in the town of Mercer in Mercer County. April 15, 1909 she
was married to Fernando H. Heil, who preceded her in death in
1968. Sruviving are three daughters: Mrs. Cornell (Dorothy)
COPELAND, Route 5, Circleville; Mrs. Eugene (Rose Mary) KOCH
and Mrs. John ORPHAL, both of St. Marys; seven grandchildren;
18 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Miss Pearl Shinabery and
Mrs. Edith CHILCOAT, both of St. Marys, and a brother,
William Shinabery, Lima. A son and a brother are deceased.
Mrs. Heil was a member of the Wayne Street United Methodist
Church in St. Marys. Funeral services will be conducted at
1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Yoder-Long and Folk Funeral Home,
St. Marys, with Rev. Richard P. Coad officiating. Burial will
be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral
home from 2 until 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Information: Lawrence Heil, 87, died at 3:03 a.m. Jan 2,
1996, in Doctor's Hospital, Nelsonville. He was born March
10, 1908 in St. Marys to Henry and Anna Young Heil. Mr. Heil
was retired from Highway Bridge Construction. He was an Army
veteran of World War II. Survivors include a brother, Charles
H. Heil of Lakeview and a sister, Esther BENEDICT of
Bellefontaine. He was preceded in death by a brother and two
sisters. Services will begin at 1 p.m. Friday at Van Horn
Funeral Home, Lakeview. The Rev. James W. Sherrill will
officiate. Burial will be in Lewistown Cemetery. Friends may
call from 11 to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Obituary / Additional Information: Mrs. Emma
Heil, age 55, widow of Herbert Heil, died at 11:35 o'clock
Friday morning (Sep. 1, 1944) at the home of her sister, Mrs.
Fred GREWE, New Knoxville, where she had been bedfast for the
last two weeks with pernicious anemia. Mrs. Heil was in ill
health since last Christmas but had been able to be up and
about until she was stricken ill when visiting at the
sister's home. She was born in New Knoxville, on November 10,
1888, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.A.W. Cook, both of whom
survive. On May 10, 1913, she was married to Herbert Heil who
is left to mourn her death together with the nine children;
Mrs. Henry B. BURDEN, Mrs. Bernard NELSON, St. Marys, Mrs.
Loyd TESTER, Juanita, Martha and Herbert Heil Jr. at home,
Staff Sgt. Richard Heil, South Pacific, Cpl. Paul Heil, Fort
George G. Meade, Md., and Pvt. John Heil, Camp Hood, Texas.
There are four grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother are
Mrs. Fred Grewe, Mrs. Walter WELLMAN, Mrs. Elmer
KATTERHEINRICH and Oscar Cook, all of New Knoxville. There
are a great many friends here and at New Knoxville where she
lived until her marriage. She was confirmed in the
Evangelical Reformed Chruch at New Knoxville in 1904 from
where she transferred her membership to the St. Paul's church
here in St. Marys. Funeral services are arranged for 2
o'clock Tuesday afternooon at the St. Paul's church with the
Rev. Geo. P. Kehl officiating. Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe
cemetery at New Knoxville. Her body will be taken to the
church at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning to lie there in state.
Friends may call at the Yoder Funeral Home Monday afternoon
from 3 to 5 and in the evening from 7 to 9. Cpl. Paul Heil
arrived yesterday afternoon from Ft. Meade and efforts are
being made through the Red Cross to contact Pvt. John Heil
who is enroute to Camp Hood from the induction center at Ft.
Benjamin Harrison.

Miss Juanita M. Heil, 59, 820 West Oliver Street,
Monday(January 29, 1973) at 10:30 p.m. at Joint Township
Memorial Hospital, where she had been admitted earlier in the
afternoon. She had undergone surgery at the hospital earlier
in the month. Death was caused by complications. Miss Heil
was the local representative for the Goodwill Industries and
also operated an answering service for various organizations
and individuals. Although confined to a wheelchair she was
active about her home and was always cheerful. She was born
in New Knoxville on September 7, 1913, to Herbert A. and Emma
Cook Heil. She was a member of the St. Paul's United Church
of Christ and the St. Paul's Bible Study group. Surviving are
four sisters and four brothers, Mrs. Bud (Eleanore) NELSON,
Palmetto, Florida, Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) BURDEN, St. Marys,
Carl (Dick) Heil, Wapakoneta, Mrs. Lloyd (Louise) TESTER,
Celina, Paul Heil, St. Marys, Mrs. Harold (Martha) LAUTH, New
Knoxville, John Heil, St. Marys, and Herbert Heil, Jr.,
Vandalia. There are many nieces and nephews and a great many
friends. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev.
Howard H. Poetter Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Yoder-Long and
Folk Funeral Home. Burial will be made in Pilger Ruhe
Cemetery, New Knoxville.

Additional Information: Vandalia- Mary Ann Heil, 62, died of
a sudden illness Tuesday, March 17, 1992, at Grandview
Hospital, Dayton. She was born Jan. 5, 1930, in New Bremen to
Bernard and Mable (Gray) Brady. She was married for 38 years
to Herbert A. Heil Jr., who survives. She is also survived by
three sons, Michael and Craig, both of Huber Heights; Glen,
Vandalia; four grandchildren; a brother, Wayne, New Bremen;
and three sisters, Betty MARSHALL, Florida; Vicki BIELEFELD,
New Bremen; and Erline STOLTE, Minster. Mrs. Heil had
attended St. Paul United Methodist Church in New Bremen.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morton &
Whetsone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Drive, with the Rev.
Ronald L. Foulk officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills
Cemetery, Tipp City. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m.
Thursday at the funeral home. The preferred memorial is to
the American Heart Association.

Information: Estella Runkle, 70, 229 Stewart Drive, died
Thursday (Jan. 9, 1986) at 7:35 p.m. at the Wilson Memorial
Hospital. She had been in failing health the past month. She
was born Dec. 19, 1915, in Minster, daughter of John and
Amelia (Naber) Heil. On Nov. 7, 1936, she was married to
Daniel Runkle. He survives with a son, William of
Indianapolis, Ind., a granddaughter, two sisters, Elsie Heil
of Sidney, and Mrs. Loy (Alma) KNASEL of Anna, and a brother,
Werner Heil of Minster. Mrs. Runkle was a member of Holy
Angels Catholic Church and had been office secretary for the
church for 16 years, retiring in 1982. She was a member and
past president of the Altar Rosary Sodality. A Mass of
Christian Burial will be said Monday at 9:30 a.m. at the
church with the Rev. Robert J. Thorsen officiating. Burial
will be in Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call at the Salm
& Wiley Funeral Home Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. Memorials

Additional Information: Lawrence Henry Heil, 217 S. Franklin,
New Bremen, died this morning (June 21, 1972) at 2:55 at
Joint Township Memorial Hospital of pneumonia brought on by
complications. He had been ailing for several years and died
at the age of 71. Mr. Heil was born November 15, 1900 in the
New Bremen area, a son of Carl and Amelia Schowe Heil. On
February 26, 1924, he married Eleanor Rentz and she survives.
Their only child, a son, Charles died in 1967. Surviving
along with his wife are one grandson, Larry, Austintown,
Ohio; two great grandchildren; a brother, Homer of Columbus;
and three sisters, Mrs. Ethel TROUT, Dayton, Mrs. Sam
(Lilliam) DIXON, Celina, and Mrs. William (Clara) HUENKE, New
Bremen. Two sisters and one brother are deceased. He was a
retired Stamco employee, a member of the Home Benefit
Association of New Bremen, the Holy Redeemer Church of New
Bremen and the Holy Name Society of that Church. A funeral
mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church
with the Rev. Father Carl Will officiating. Burial will be in
St. Augustine Cemetery, Minster. Friends may call at the
Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen, from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9

Thursday, October 29 (1987) in the Joint Township District
Memorial Hospital in St. Marys. He was born April 26, 1969 in
St. Marys to John and Wilma (Brodbeck) Heil, who survive.
Other survivors include his grandmother, Mrs. Laura Brodbeck
of St. Marys; three sisters, Deborah Heil of New Knoxville,

Third Street, died Friday, Dec. 30, 1994 at Heritage Manor
Nursing at 8:30 p.m. following a five-week illness. He was
born Nov. 11, 1910 in Minster to John and Amelia (Naber)
Heil. On July 12, 1938, he married Dorothy C. Kuehner, who
survives. He is also survived by one son and daughter-in-law,
Steven and JoAnn Heil of Vandalia; one sister Alma KNASEL of
Anna. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Mr. Heil was a
member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the St. Augustine
Orphan Society and the 25 year Club at Minster Machine where
he worked for 38 years as a draftsman. Funeral services will
be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Thomas
Brenberger officiating. Burial will follow at the church

Wilbert C. Heil, 82, 324 Sprague St., Willshire, a native of
New Bremen, died Sunday at 2:05 a.m. at Coldwater Community
Hospital. He was born Jan. 15, 1906, son of August and Minnie
(Bushman) Heil. On Oct. 31, 1929, he married the former
Dorothy Altheon. She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Robert
(Phyllis) MILLER of Willshire; two granddaughters and three
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Auralia ESCHMEYER of New
Knoxville. Two brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Heil
retired in 1970 from Meshberger Brothers LICA Contruction Co.
where he had been employed 47 years. Services will be held
Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Zwick-Sefton & Jahn
Funeral Home in Decatur, Ind., with the Rev. James E. Pommert
officiating. Burial will be in the Willshire Cemetery.

grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.
Deceased are a daughter-in-law, Maryann, and four great-
grandchildren.
She was employed at Sieberling Rubber, and was a member of
St. Augustine Catholic Church, Minster, New Bremen Senior
Citizens, and St. Michaels Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of
St. John, Fort Loramie.

Services are 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic
Church, Wapakoneta, the Rev. William Eilerman officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Christian
prayer services will be 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral
home.

Sue H. (Grant) Jacobs. On Jan. 23, 1963, she married John
Wallace Watt, who survives.

REICHELDERFER, Cridersville, Michaela and Richard HOWE, New
Knoxville; a son and his wife, James and Marylou PRESTON,
Xenia; step-daughter, Marla Sue Watt, Fort Smith, Ark.; step
son David Watt, Wapakoneta; eight grandchildren; 10 great-
grandchildren and numerous step grand and great-
grandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Lee and Jim
HISER, Fort Wayne, Ind., Barbara and Charles MARKER, Celina.
Deceased are two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was a homemaker and Avon products representative for 25
years. She was a member of New Knoxville United Methodist
Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a member and
past president of the American Legion Post 444 Auxiliary and
past grand marshall for the New Knoxville Fall Festival
parade.
Services are 10:30 a.m. on Monday at the New Knoxville United
Methodist Church, with Rev. Mitch Arnold officiating. Burial
will be at Pilger Ruhe Cometary, near New Knoxville.

Additional Information: Mrs. Alvina M. Henschen, 86, of
R.R.1, New Knoxville, died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 17,
1973) in Joint Township Memorial Hospital. Death was due to
complications after an illness of two weeks. Born November 9,
1886 in Shelby County, she was the daughter of William and
Magdalena Lammers Haberkamp. She was married to Herman F.
Henschen on April 28, 1910. He died September 16, 1972. Four
sons, Leonard, R.R.1, St. Marys, Elmer, R.R. 1, New
Knoxville, Reuben, R.R.1 New Bremen and Victor, R.R.1, New
Knoxville, survive along with 12 grandchildren and 17 great
grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. George
(Sarah) KATTERHEINRICH and Mrs. Julius (Ella) HOLTKAMP, both
of New Knoxville and one brother, Julius Haberkamp of Toledo.
A grandson, an infant sister, Emma, and three brothers,
Henry, Bernard and Herman Haberkamp preceded Mrs. Henschen in
death. She was a member of the First United Church of Christ
in New Knoxville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.
Friday in the Vornholt Funeral Home, New Knoxville where

Information: John G. Lengerich, 65, Wapakoenta-Fryburg Road,
Wapakoneta, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2001 at his
residence He was born Feb. 11, 1936 in St. Marys, the son of
Bernard and Elizabeth (Arnett) Lengerich. On Jan. 31, 1959,
he married Sylvia M. Reed, who survives. He is also survived
by three sons, Robert of Lima, Gary of Maplewood, Karl of St.
Marys; a daughter Lisa Lengerich of Toledo, seven
grandchildren; one brother, Bernard "Ed" of St.
Marys; a sister, Elizabeth HAUENSTEIN of Lima; and several
nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother
and two sisters. Mr. Lengerich was a truck driver and later
worked as a corrections officer with Auglaize County
Sheriff's Office. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church
in Fryburg. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police,
Auglaize County Post 76 and a member of the Teamsters Union.
He was a former member of the Wapakoneta Eagles 691 and a
former member of American Legion Post 446 in Anna. He was a
veteran of the U.S. Air Force , having served in England. He
was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. He graduated
from St. Marys Memoral High School in 1954. A mass of
Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m Saturday at St. John
Catholic Church in Fryburg, with the Rev. Oscar Sager
officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in St. John
Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m.
at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta, where a
parish wake service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Memorials may
be made to St. Rita's Hospice.

Ohio 66 S., St. Marys, died at 1:30 a.m. June 29, at Joint
Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.
She was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Noble Township, north of St.
Marys, to Benjamin and Maude (Blanke) Schrolucke. On May 4,
1950, she married Victor Fledderjohann, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons and their wives, Craig and
Karen, and Neal and Cindy, and a son, Ned, all of St. Marys;
a brother, Harold Schrolucke, St. Marys; and seven
grandchildren.
She was a retired nurse from Joint Township District Memorial
Hospital, and was a member of First United Church of Christ,
New Knoxville. She graduated from St. Marys Memorial High
School and Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. David
Hunt officiating. Burial is at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New
Knoxville.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday in the Heritage Room of
the church.

Tuesday, Sept 24, 1996, at Lost Creek Care Center in Lima.
She was born June 17, 1923, near Marietta in Morgan County to
Amos and Clara (Reed) Wagner and at the age of seven was
adopted by August and Caroline (KATTERHEINRICH) BEICKMAN of
New Knoxville. On May 26, 1942, she married Reuben Henschen
who survives near New Bremen. She is also survived by two
sons, Larry, Springfield; Roger, St. Marys; two daughters,
Mary METZGER and Mrs. Stan (Kathryn) CHALK, both of New
Knoxville; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, a
brother, Amos Wagner, Jr., Beverly; four sisters, Kathryn
HENNINGER, Lowell; Ethel LEWIS, Beverly; Hazel VAN WEY,
Marietta; and Deloris "Mary" NEISS, Newton Falls.
Mrs. Henschen was a homemaker. She was a member of the First
United Church of Christ in New Knoxville. Services will be at
10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church with the Rev. David Hunt
officiating. Burial will be in German Protestant Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at

Wenger Road, Botkins, died at 9 a.m. Monday at Lima Memorial
Hospital following an 18 month illness. He was born Sept 24,
1918, in New Knoxville, the son of Henry and Hilda Lammers
Henschen. On July 12, 1942, he married Rachael
Katterheinrich, who survives. Survivors also include one son,
Gary Henschen of Botkins; one daughter, Mrs. Ted (Sue) WILLKE
of Rolling Meadows, Ill.; five grandchildren; one brother,
Curtis Henschen of Sidney; and one sister, Mrs. Don (Dorothy)
MAY of Botkins. A retired farmer, Mr. Henschen was a Dinsmore
Township Trustee for Shelby County. He was a former member of
the Botkins Board of Education and the Shelby County Board of
Education . A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Henschen
was also the State Director of the Ohio Township Trustee
Association. He was also a former Council Member of St. Paul
Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m.

20, R.R.1, New Bremen was killed at 12:15 a.m. Sunday (April
17, 1985) when the automobile that he was driving went off
Hardin Pike south of Wapakoneta and struck a power pole. He
was pronounced dead at the scene by Auglaize county Coroner
Dr. Richard Harbord and is the fourth fatality in the county
this year... Hirschfeld was born August 10, 1954 in Joint
Township District Memorial Hospital, the son of Wallace and
Edna Wiehe Hirschfeld. In addition to his parents, other
survivors include two brothers, Erik, at home, and Bryan of
R.R.4 Wapakoneta; one sister, Mrs. Tim (Judy) VILYUS,
Shreveport, La.; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor
Hirschfeld, R.R. New Bremen and maternal grandfather, Harry
Wiehe of R.R. New Bremen. He was a graduate of Memorial High
School in 1972 where he was involved in many activities and
of Clark Technical School, Springfield. He was engaged in
farming. He was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of
Christ, New Bremen, the church choir and taught Sunday School
there. In addtion he was Auglaize Farm Bureau Youth Advisor
and and a 4-H advisor. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in
the church with the Rev. Roger D. Perl officiating. Burial

morning, April 17, (1985), at Joint Township District
Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, where she had been a patient
for 10 days. She had been suffering from cancer. She was born
August 24, 1921, in German Township, Auglaize County, the
daughter of Harry H. and Bertha M. Huelsmeyer Wiehe. On April
27, 1946, she married Wallace Hirschfeld, who survives.
Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Judy)
Hirschfeld STEMEN of Sunbury, Ohio; two sons, Bryan
Hirschfeld of St. Marys and Erik Hirschfeld of Botkins; two
grandchildren; a brother, Victor Wiehe of Wildwood, Fla; and

Hoelscher, 88 of 105 North East street, died of complications
at 2 a.m. today in Valley Nursing Home, St. Marys. He had
been ailing for some time. Mr. Hoelscher was a retired farmer
and native of Auglaize County. He was born January 10, 1879,
a son of the late Ernst and Adeline Wellman Hoelscher. He
married Anna Lammers on May 15, 1901. She preceded him in
death on October 3, 1966. He is survived by five children,
Mrs. Harvey (Esther) ELSHOFF, of St. Marys, Mrs. Leonard
(Martha) SCHROER, Mrs. Vernon (Ruby) JAUERT, Noah and Elmer

Township Hospital after suffering a stroke. She was born Nov.

Feil. On Nov 21, 1940, she married Oscar Hoelscher, who died

Mrs. Hoelscher was a former telephone operator in New
Knoxville. She was an active volunteer at Joint Township
Hospital and also at First United Church of Christ in New
Knoxville where she was a member. She was a 1936 graduate of
New Knoxville High School. She was a former presiding
precinct judge for the Washington Township Elections Board
and a member of the New Knoxville Senior Citizens. Funeral

Hoffman, 87, of 110 Bennet St., Sidney, died at 1:35 p.m.
Monday, January 28, 1991, in his home following an apparent
heart attack. He was born May 31, 1903, in New Bremen, the
son of Henry and Helena (Kuck) Hoffman. On May 10, 1952, he
married Atillia Petitti, who survives. Also surviving are one
daughter, Mrs. William (Esther) ROEGE of Lansing, Mich.;
three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers,
Paul Hoffman of New Bremen and Arnold Hoffman of Raleigh,
N.C.; and three sisters, Mrs. Woodsen (Elsie) HICKS of
Tollhouse, Calif., Mrs. Webster (Selma) GEIB of Sidney and
Mrs. Helen SIMON of Bluffton. Mr. Hoffman was a 1921 graduate
of New Bremen High School and a 1925 graduate of the
Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. He was employed with the
WLW Radio Station as an announcer, vocalist and director.
Following a move to California in 1940, he became a prominent
wallpaper hanger and taught at the community college. In
1972, Mr. Hoffman moved to Sidney where he and his wife owned
and operated the Sidney Motel while he continued to
wallpaper, retiring in 1988. Funeral services wil be held at
2 p.m. Friday in the Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen, with
Rev. Lysle Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in German
Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen. Friends may call from 2 to 4

Henry Hoffman, age 77, 71 Franklin Street, widely known
retired painter and paper-hanger of New Bremen, died at 2:30
a.m. Wednesday at Joint Township Memorial Hospital, where he
had been a patient for two weeks. He had submitted to major
surgery two years ago and since then had been in failing
health. Mr. Hoffman learned his trade as a paperhanger and
painter from his father and had been engaged in the
decorating business for many years before retiring two years
ago when he turned the business over to his son, Paul, who
had been associated with him. He was born April 7, 1876, in
New Bremen, the son of the late Philip and Marie Bisantz
Hoffman. On January 30, 1902, he married Helena Kuck who is
left to mourn his death along with their six children, Ezra,
Los Angeles, California; Paul of New Bremen and Prof. Arnold
Hoffman, Raleigh, N.C.; Mrs. Webster (Selma) GEIB, Sidney;
Mrs. W.E. (Elsie) HICKS, San Francisco, and Mrs. Richard
(Helen) SIMON, Beaverdam, O. There are ten grandchildren and
three brothers, Rev. Fred and Rev. Conrad Hoffman, Cleveland
and Daniel Hoffman, Toledo. Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman were
privileged to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary in
1952 when their children and grandchildren joined them in
receiving many relatives and friends in honor of the
occasion. He was a member of the Zion Evangelical and
Reformed church and the Brotherhood. For years he taught in
the Sunday School and was a member too, of the Church
consistory for some years. Funeral services are arranged for
2 p.m. Saturday afternoon at Zion Evangelical and Reformed
church with the Rev. L.G. Fritz officiating. Burial will take
place in German Protestant cemetery. Friends may call at the

Additional Information: Arthur F. Hoge, age 75, 203 South St.
Marys Street, New Knoxville, secretary-treasurer and part
owner of the Hoge Lumber Co., died at 1 a.m. today (Dec. 14,
1971) at University Hospital, Columbus. Cancer was the cause
of death . Although Mr. Hoge had been ill for some time, he
was able to work as usual until last week. He had been
hospitalized only three days. Mr. Hoge was active in church
and community affairs and also took an active role in
Lumbermen's organizations, on a state and national scale. He
was well known in the New Knoxville community for his
furtherance of projects for the community's betterment. He
was born Nov. 21, 1896, in New Knoxville, the son of Herman

HARDWIG, Walnut Creek, Calif, Mrs. Kermit (Ella) KUCK,
Sidney, and Oliver H. Hoge, New Knoxville, and a great many
friends. Three brothers died in infancy. Mr. Hoge was a
veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War I. He was a member of the
First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville. he was a 50
year member of the Washington Post 444, American Legion, New
Knoxville. He was a member for many years of the Forest
Advisory Committee of the Ohio Forestry Association. Mr. Hoge
was interested in the furtherance of relations between the
New Knoxville Community and Ladbergen, the ancestral home of
many New Knoxville residents. Funeral services will be held
at 2 p.m. Friday at the First United Church of Christ, New
Knoxville, with the Rev. Kenneth H. Worthman officiating.
Burial will take place in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.

Holtkamp, 77 of Lebanon, died Saturday, March 22, 1997 at
Christ Hospital. He is survived by his wife Phyllis
(Bradfield) Holtkamp; a son, Kurt Holtkamp, St. Lucie,
Florida; five stepsons, Edmund Bradfield, Chicago; John
Bradfield, Gaithersburg, Maryland; Dr. Philip Bradfield,
Baltimore, Michael ROBERTS of Germantown, and Chuck Roberts
of Prescott, Arizona; one stepdaughter, Verne COY of
Centerville, Utah; two grandchildren and one greatgrandchild.
Dr. Holtkamp was a well respected retired Merrill Dow
pharmaceutical research scientist. He had published several
articles and holds patents in fertility and other fields. He
was born and raised in New Knoxville. He received his
undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees in medical
research from the University of Colorado. He was a member of
the Ohio Academy of Scientists, Society for the Study of
Reproduction, American Fertility Society, International
Family Planning Research Association and Pacific Coast
Fertility Society. Dr. Holtkamp was a member of Lebanon
Presbyterian Church for more than 20 years. A memorial
service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Lebanon

Additional Information: Mrs. Caroline Holtkamp, age 71, 108
West German, New Knoxville, beloved retired first grade
teacher of the New Knoxville school, died at 7:30 a.m. today
(Dec. 15, 1964) at the home of her son and daughter-in-law,
Dr. and Mrs. Dorsey E. Holtkamp, of Lebanon, Ohio. She had
been ill for two months with cancer.
Mrs. Holtkamp was born Oct. 6, 1893, in New Knoxville, the
daughter of Charles and Anne Lammers Meckstroth. In 1916 she
was married to Emil H. Holtkamp who died two years later in
1918. Left to mourn her death are one son, Dr. D. E.
Holtkamp, of Lebanon the daughter-in-law, Mrs. Holtkamp,
three grandchildren, Kurt, Charles Robert and Michael Robert
Holtkamp, Lebanon, four brothers, Jacob of Columbus, Gustave
of Orlando, Fla, Dr. Emil, of Sandusky and the Rev. Richard
B. Meckstroth, of New Knoxville; three sisters, Mrs. Matilda
FLEDDERJOHANN, Mrs. Ferd ( Ella) WELLMAN and Mrs. A. F. HOGE,
all of New Knoxville. Mrs. Holtkamp received her bachelor's
degree in education from Bowling Green State University and
her master's degree from the University of Denver, Colo. For
45 years she was employed in teaching, beginning her teaching
career in a one-room school in Washington township. Two years
ago she retired from teaching in the first grade of the New
Knoxville school. She was a member and presently president of
the Beta Upsilon Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society,
professional women educator's organization. Mrs. Holtkamp was
a member of the First United Church of Christ at New
Knoxville and the Women's Guild. She was a teacher in the
Sunday school for years. She was interested in the home
mission work of the United Church of Christ and had made
several tours to the home mission fields. She had traveled
widely in Europe, in South America, Mexico and this country.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First
United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, with the Rev. William
H. Oelrich officiating. Burial will take place in Pilger Ruhe
cemetery, New Knoxville. Friends may call at the Vornholt
Funeral Home, New Bremen, after Thursday noon until Friday,
10:30 a.m. when the body will be removed to the church to lie
in state until the hour of the services. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9
p.m. Thursday. Friends wishing to give memorial gifts are
asked by the family to give them to Lima Memorial hospital,
the Home for the Aged at Upper Sandusky or some other
charitable organization.

Additional Information: Glenn L. Holtkamp, 47, formerly of
New Knoxville, and his daughter, Kay, 17, were killed when a
plane he was piloting was torn apart in a sudden thunderstorm
over the Tennesee river near Courtland Ala. on Saturday, July
1. (1978) They had left their home in Chattanooga, Tenn. and
were going to Dallas, Texas to visit another daughter, Lyn
Holtkamp...They were both buried in the National Cemetery at
Chattanooga where graveside services were held on Wednesday,
July 5. Mr. Holtkamp was born May 6, 1931 in New Knoxville to
the late Julius and Ella Holtkamp. Following graduation he
served in the U.S. Air Corps. He was currently self-employed
as a computer programmer. He is survived by his widow, Sue
... two daughters, Mrs. Craig (Joy) LAMOUNTAIN of
Collegedale, Tenn, and Lyn, who is returning from Dallas to
be living at home; one granddaughter; and a brother, Calvin
of Mansfield. Kay is survived by her mother, two sisters, and
her maternal grandparents. She was born Dec. 6, 1960 and had
just graduated from Collegedale Academy.

76, of 106 East Spring Street, New Knoxville, died at 6:54
a.m. today (9-29-1969) at Joint Township Memorial Hospital of
complications following a lingering illness. He was born on a
farm north of New Knoxville, September 2, 1893, the son of
the late Louis and Sarah Cook Holtkamp. On November 28, 1918,
he married Ella Haberkamp with whom he celebrated their
golden wedding anniversary last year. Surviving in addition
to his wife are two sons, Calvin Holtkamp, Mansfield, and
Glenn Holtkamp , Ridgewood, New Jersey; five grandchildren;
and a sisters, Mrs. Adella ELSHOFF of New Knoxville. One
sister, Mrs. Alvina WELLMAN, and two brothers who died in
infancy, preceded his in death. Mr. Holtkamp was a member of
the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville and was a
Sunday School teacher and superintendent for 35 years. He was
a township trustee for many years a member of Mercer Lodge
No. 121, F & A.M. He retired in 1957 from Stamco where he
was employed for 20 years. Funeral services will take place
Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Gilberg Funeral home, New Bremen.
The Rev. Kenneth Worthman will officiate with burial to
follow in Pilger Ruhe cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home Tuesday afternoon and evening and Wednesday
until the hour of services. The family will receive friends
in the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The
Masonic Lodge will conduct services in the funeral home at
