Additional Information: Catharine GILROY was born in Clark
county, O., Jan. 22, 1834, and came with her parents to what
is known as the old Gilroy farm, south of Waynesfield, Ohio,
in 1836. She and her husband were schoolmates in Waynesfield
district school. She was united in marriage with C. C.
PEPPLE, Oct 25, 1855. To this union, eight children were
born; two of whom died in infancy, and the eldest son died at
the age of 16. Three sons and two daughters survive the
mother. Mrs. PEPPLE was converted and joined the M. P.
church in Waynesfield, in 1865, and has sustained a very
creditable relation to the same ever since. Although for
years her health was poor, yet her voice was often heard in
prayer meetings. In her home life she was truly a devoted
wife and mother; ever attentive to the wants of her loved
ones--in fact the life of this sister was one of those lives
that made itself felt for good, in the home and the
community. After a long and severe illness, sister PEPPLE
quietly passed to her final rest, Friday, June 17, 1904, aged
70 years, 4 months and 23 days.

They will greatly miss but never forget the love which found
expression in so many thoughtful acts for their comfort and
welfare.
She was a loyal friend and good neighbor, always ready to
lend a helping hand, in time of sickness or other need.
The affliction which caused her death caused her much
suffering during the past year, which she bore with patience.
She gave bright evidence of her acceptance of God before her
departure for the other world.
She leaves to mourn besides her husband, two daughters, Miss
Arvilla and Norma DILTS, of Chicago, Ill. Her aged father

of other relatives and friends.
Oh, what is home since mother's gone
We hear the weeping children say
The lovely sun has scarcely shone
Since our dear mother passed away;
The hours that gaily sped along
And brought new prospects of delight
Now linger with regretful song,
And say, dear mother's gone tonight.
Hand written now "This is your aunt Sarah Poetry"
Note in letter with above enclosed obituary: Homer is still
a live they found him out in the yard all most gone they had
a hard time to save him

Obituary / Additional Information: New Knoxville, March
27- H.E. Eversman, age 55, owner of The Eversman Meat Market
here, died suddenly of coronary thrombosis shortly after 6
o'clock last evening as he was walking from his automobile to
his pig lot in the southwest part of the village. Eversman's
lifeless body was found by family members at 7 o'clock last
night when they became alarmed at his failure to return home
and began an investigation. He had closed his store at 6
o'clock and had taken a bucket of shelled corn in his truck
to the feeding lot. When he was found he was lying on the
ground near the fence which he apparently had leaned against
as he felt the heart attack coming on. Dr. E.P. Sparks was
called and it was his opinion that Eversman had been dead for
about an hour. Word of his death was heard with deep regret
by his many friends. In 1919 Mr. Eversman and F.H. KUCK
bought the meat market from H.W. Eversman. They continued as
partners in the meat, grocery and fruit business until 1934
when Mr. Eversman bought out Mr. Kuck's interest. Since then
he and his sons Earl, and Robert had operated the store which
has been known for its high grade merchandise. Before
entering in business for himself Mr. Eversman was a clerk in
the B.E. Cook general store and had gained valuable
experience in merchandising there. Herman Edward Eversman was
born October 20, 1884 on a farm a half mile south of New
Knoxville in Shelby county. He was the son of the late
William and Sophia Wierwille Eversman. On April 27, 1909 he
married Lydia Warner who is left to mourn his death. In
addition to his wife he is survived by six children, Earl,
Robert, and Myron Eversman, Mrs. Elmer (Norma) KUCK, Agnes
and Larue Eversman, all of New Knoxville. There are one
brother and two sisters, A.E. Eversman, Mrs. B.E. (Anna)
COOK. Mrs. Theodore W. Kuck, all of New Knoxville. A wide
circle of friends thoughout this district also survive. Mr.
Eversman was a lifelong member of the Evangelical Reformed
church. He was an active member of the Civic Club. Funeral
services are arranged for Friday afternoon at 1:45 o'clock at
his late residence and at 2 o'clock at the Evangelical
Reformed church with the Rev. O. B. Moor officiating. Burial
will take place in Pilger Ruhe cemetery. Friends may call

to them nine children, six boys and three girls, three of
whom died in infancy. The husband and father died four years
age, leaving his family in confortable circumstances. The
surviving children now mourn the loss of their only earthly
parent, a good and affectionate mother; one whose deepest
concern while living was for their temporal as well as their
eternal welfare. Mrs. Shiery united with the Church of Christ
about forty years ago and ever afterward lived the life of a
devoted and consistent Christian. The funeral took place from
Otterbein U.B. Church on Monday May 5, Rev. Mr. Brundige of
Lima, conducting the services.

Obituary / Additional Information: Mrs. Elizabeth
Tobias, relict of the late John Tobias died at the home of
her daughter, Mrs. Mary JACOBS on Thursday, May 1, 1902, aged
85 years, 10 months and 27 days. Mother Tobias was born June
4, 1816 near Xenia, Greene County, Ohio. About the year 1835
she was united in holy wedlock to John Tobias and soon
afterward the young couple moved to what was then the wilds
of Auglaize county. Here they acquired a tract of virgin
forest which by dint of hard labor they made to blossom as
the rose. Her husband preceded her to eternity about eight
years ago, since which time whe has been making her home with
her daughter, Mrs. Jacobs, who tenderly ministered to her
wants in her declining years assisted by her other children
and grandchildren as opportunity offered. Mother Tobias was a
faithful member of St. Mark's Lutheran church of Wapakoneta
in which the funeral services were conducted by Rev.
J.A.Frischkorn, follow by interment in the Keller cemetery in
accordance wiith her oft expressed wish during her lifetime.
Inasmuch as her husband was buried in the Haroff cemetery her
children now propose to remove his remains and re-inter them
by the side of his wife. Her descendents are thirteen
children of whom six are living; sixty grand children of whom
fifty-five are living; fifty six great grandchildren of whom
forty-seven are living and one great great grandchild
deceased. It will thus be seen that her descendants number
one hundred and thirty. Mother Tobias was of a very
affectioante disposition and when hardships surrounded her
she never complained. Her loving disposition was reciprocated
by the esteem in which she was held by all her children and
grand children and by a large circle of friends. May she rest
in peace is the prayer of those who dearly loved her. A
grandchild.

Obituary / Additional
Information: On Tuesday morning April 29, 1902 as the
darkness and shadows of the night were being dispelled by the
coming light of a new day, one of earth's happy and bright
spirits took its leave of the earthly habitation and went to
be with God in the home not made with hands eternal in the
heavens. Jennie S. Settlage, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
H.C. Settlage was born on the 18th day of May, 1880 and grew
up through the various stages and experiences of life and in
our midst to womanhood. Here was a happy nature and a winning
way. She had the advantage of a Christian home and with faith
in God and the promises of his word her parents presented her
for baptism which she received at the hands of the Rev. D.A.
Kuhn, then pastor of the First English Luthern church on the
21st day of August, 1880. She took upon herself these vows
and was confirmed on the 17th day of February 1895 by the
Rev. S.S. Adams and continued to keep the faith steadfast
unto the end... On the 4th day of July 1901 she was united by
the holy bonds of marriage to Mr. W.G. Stevens of Toledo, who
with the sweet and innocent baby girl mourns the untimely
death of the wife and mother, beautiful in life and lovely in
death. In the parental home there is left an aching void.
While here she was to her parents, her sister and her
brothers a daily blessing gladdening their hearts, cheering
their lives and making it easier for each one to live and
bear the burden incident to the earthly pilgrimage. She died
at the age of 31 years, 11 months and 11 days at her home in
Toledo. The remains were brought to Wapakoneta and the
funeral took place from the home of the parents on West
Auglaize street on Friday afternoon, May 2. Services were
conducted by Rev. J.H. Culler. D.D. assisted by Rev. J.C.
Roberts. Interment in Green Lawn cemetery.
