19-Julius Henry Eversman, age 52, well known local business
man died very suddenly at his home Monday afternoon at 12:30
o'clock of a heart attack. He was injured in an accident some
months ago, but was very much improved and was ready to walk
without the aid of his cane. Mr. Eversman was born north of
New Knoxville, November 9, 1894, a son of Henry W. and
Caroline Lutterbeck Eversman. His father preceded him in
death. On December 26, 1916, he married Selma Kuhlman, who is
left to mourn his death. An only son, Paul, died in infancy.
Besides his bereaved wife and mother, he is survived by two
brothers, Sylvanus and Ferd, both of New Knoxville. There are
a great many friends. Mr. Eversman is a member of the Eagles
lodge in St. Marys, the United Commercial Traveler's
Association, and the Ohio Petroleum Marketers Association of
which he was a director for the past six years. He was active
in the social and civic affairs of the village and was a
member of the Evangelical and Reformed church in New
Knoxville. He was the operator and owner of the Eversman Oil
Company in New Knoxville for 23 years and in that capacity,
made many friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Evangelical and Reformed
church with Dr. D.A. Bode officiating. Burial will be made in
Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may call at the late residence
Wednesday evening and until the hour of the services on
Thursday.

Eversman, age 72, 100 East Spring St., New Knoxville, died
at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday at Joint Township Memorial hospital
where she had been under treatment for a week for
complications. She had been ill two weeks. Mrs. Eversman had
not been so well for the last few years but had continued
active. Mrs. Eversman was born May 6, 1893, in New Knoxville,
the daughter of Herman and Amalia Lutterbein Kuhlman. On Dec.
26, 1916, she was married to Julius Eversman who preceded her
in death on Aug. 17, 1947. On son died in infancy. Mrs.
Eversman, known to many friends as Sally, is survived by five
sisters, and three brothers, Mrs. Alvina HOLL, New Knoxville,
Mrs. H.D. (Meta) SCHOPPMAN, New Haven, Ind., Mrs. Clara
HEADAPOHL, Mrs. William (Arminta) THIEMAN, LeRoy Kuhlman, New
Knoxville, Mrs. Oliver (Mildred) VORDERMARK, R.R. 1, New
Knoxville, Lawrence Kuhlman, New Knoxville, and Norman
Kuhlman, St. Marys. Two brothers, Henry and Reinhard and a
sister, Mrs. Ida WELLMAN are deceased. Mrs. Eversman was a
member of the First United Church of Christ, the Women's
Guild and Hospital Guild of the Church. She was a charter
member of the New Knoxville Garden club and had been acitve
in its projects. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.
Saturday at the New Knoxville church with the Rev. Kenneth H.
Worthman officiating. Burial will take place in Pilger Ruhe
cemetery. New Knoxville. Friends may call at the Vornholt
Funeral Home, New Bremen, after 12 p.m. Friday until 10:30
a.m. Saturday when the body will be removed to the church.

Additional Information: New Knoxville, Dec. 26-Funeral
services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the First
Evangelical and Reformed Church for B. E. Cook, age 76,
widely known and beloved New Knoxville citizen who died
Saturday afternoon at 2:45 o'clock at his home here. The Rev.
O.B. Moor conducted the services and burial is to be made in
Pilger Ruhe cemetery. Mr. Cook died suddenly of a heart
attack at 2:45 o'clock Saturday afternoon after a few days
illness. Unfortunately since there was no newspaper published
here on Sunday or Christmas Day, many of his friends were not
informed of his death. For years he operated a general store
in New Knoxville and so had a wide circle of acquaintances
throughout the vicinity. He was a member of the First
Evangelical and Reformed church taking an active interest in
all of its affairs. He was president elect of the Men's
Brotherhood and served as benevolence treasurer for the
church. He was secretary of the Church board or consistory
and had the interest of the church at heart. He was secretary
of the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery association. In all of New
Knoxville's civic enterprises he was a booster and could be
counted upon for active support. Mr. Cook was the son of the
late Henry and Elizabeth Venneman Cook and was born May 30,
1869 here in the village. On May 19, 1892 he married Anna
Sophia Eversman who is left to mourn his death. In addition
to his wife he is survived by one sister, Mrs. L. C. MAHN. On
sister is deceased. There are a legion of friends throughout
the county who feel a personal loss in the death of Mr. Cook.

27- Mrs. B.E. Cook, age 74, died at 11:20 o'clock last
evening at Lima Memorial hospital where she was taken for
treatment earlier in the day. She suffered abdominal
hemorrhages which resulted in her death. Mrs. Cook was
accompanied to the Hosptial by her sisters, Mrs. Theodore
KUCK and her sister-in-law, Mrs. Ernst (Matilda) Eversman, of
New Knoxville. Enroute to the hospital Mrs. Eversman suffered
a stroke and immediately entered the hospital for treatment
when she arrived there. Her condition today is reported as
slightly improved. Mrs. Cook was Anna Eversman before her
marriage to B. E. Cook, who operated a general store here in
New Knoxville for many years and was widely known throughout
the community. Surviving her are the sister, Mrs. Kuck and
two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ernst Eversman and Mrs. Herman
(Lydia) Eversman. There are a great many more distant
relatives and many friends. Mrs. Cook was the daughter of the
late William and Elizabeth Wirwille Eversman and was born
southeast of New Knoxville on January 1, 1870. On May 19,
1892, she was married to B. E. Cook whose death occurred on
December 23, 1940. Six brothers and a sister are deceased.
She was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church, the
Ladies Aid society and the German Bible Class. Funeral
services are arranged for Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at
the church with Dr. D. A. Bode officiating. Burial will be in
Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.

for Mrs. Louisa Elizabeth Kuck, age 92, a patient at the
Fairhaven United Church of Christ home, Upper Sandusky, will
take place Sunday at 2 p.m. in the First United Church of
Christ, New Knxoville, the Rev. Kenneth Worthman will
officiate with burial to follow in Pilger Ruhe cemetery.
Gilberg Funeral Home, New Bremen, is in charge of
arrangements. There will be no calling hours. The family
requests that memorial contributions be made to the United
Church Home at Upper Sandusky. Mrs. Kuck died Friday at 12:30
p.m. at the church home following a long illness. She was
born near New Knoxville, November 9, 1876, the daughter of
the late William and Sophia Wierwille Eversman. She was
married to W. Theodore Kuck in 1911. He died in June 1945.
Surviving are a son, Kermit Kuck, Sidney, a daughter, Mrs
Lillian Foster, San Diego, California, four grandchildren and
three great grandchildren. Five brothers and a sister
preceded her in death. Mrs. Kuck was a life-long member of
the First United Church of Christ at New Knoxville.

Additional Information: W. Theodore Kuck, 82, of New
Knoxville died at 4:22 Friday afternoon at Lima Memorial
hospital after four months illness from complications. He was
born February 3, 1863 near New Knoxville, a son of William
and Elizabeth Brunsman Kuck. On December 28, 1911, he married
Louise Elizabeth Eversman, and she survives together with a
daughter and a son, Mrs. Charles H. FOSTER of New Knoxville,
and Kermit Kuck of Sidney. He was an artesian well driller.
He was a member of the First Evangelical and Reformed church.
Dr. D.A. Bode will conduct funeral services at the church at
2 p.m. Monday, and burial will be at Pilger Ruhe cemetery.

Additional Information: Sidney-Memorial services will be held
at 1 p.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran Ch urch for Kermit T.
Kuck, 76, 1800 Port Jefferson Road, who died Sunday evening,
Oct. 1, 1989. He was born Oct. 22, 1912, in New Knoxville To
W. Theodore and Lois (sic) E. (Eversman) Kuck. On Aug 20,
1938, he married Ella M. Hoge, who survives. He is also
survived by two sons, Joe A., Cortland, N.Y.; W. Theodore,
New York, N.Y.; a sister, Lillian FOSTER, Raleigh, N.C. and a
niece and nephew. Mr. Kuck retired Dec. 31, 1988, from
Monarch Machine Tool Co. as Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer after 53 years of varied service with the company.
Under his leadership Monarch has grown from a single plant
operation in Sidney to a $90 million a year business that
also has manufaturing plants in Cortland, N.Y., New Bremen;
and Keighley, England. Private funeral services will be held
at Cromes Funeral Home at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. The preferred memorials
are the Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research,
Rochester, Minn.,; the Dorothy Love Life Care fund and the
church.

Information: Mrs. Matilda Louise Eversman, age 81, 107 West
South Street, New Knoxville, died at 8:05 p.m. Friday at
Joint Township Memorial Hospital where she was under
treatment for a complication of diseases. She had been an
invalid 16 years during which she continued cheerful and
interested in her family and friends. Mrs. Eversman was born
August 12, 1879 in New Knoxville, the daughter of the late
Adolph and Elizabeth Fenneman Eschmeyer. On May 12, 1902 she
was married to Ernst Eversman who preceded her in death on
February 22, 1941. Surviving her are four children, Oliver,
New Knoxville, Carl, Toledo, Mrs. H. W. (Dorothy) ZUEGE, New
Knoxville, and Mrs. John (Louise) SIEHL, Park Hills, Ky.
three grandchildren and one great grandchild in addition to
many more distant relatives and friends. A sister, Mrs. Henry
ROEDIGER is deceased. She was a member of the First E & R
United Church of Christ, the German Bible Class and the
Ladies Aid. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at
the Vornholt Funeral Home, New Bremen, with the Rev. F.J.
Lowenbergh officiating. Burial will take place in Pilger Ruhe

son of Craig and Marcia (Vorst) Rodeheffer, 1227 Paddington
Road, Canton, Mich., was stillborn Monday, Jan. 25, 1999, at
4:26 a.m. at the University of Michigan Medical Center in Ann
Arbor, Mich. The infant's father is formerly of New
Knoxville. In addition to his parents he is survived by a
sister, Rachel at home; a paternal grandmother, Madeline
Rodeheffer of New Knoxville; maternal grandparents, Eugene
and Patricia Vorst of Middle Point; and a maternal great-
grandmother, Viola MUELLER of Landeck. Graveside services
will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Pilger Ruhe Cemetery,
New Knoxville, with the Rev. David A Heinl officiating.

Additional Information: Ronald E. Maze, 63, of Wapakoneta
died at 10:15 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2001 at his residence.
He was born Sept. 11, 1937 in Lima, the son of Ernest and
Barbara Marshall Maze. He married Carole Sue Friend Maze
Sept. 25, 1937. She preceded in him in death Sept 14, 1981.
He later married Susan K. Hilty Maze, March 23, 1991. She
survives. Other survivors include: one son, Randy (Barbara)
Maze of Lima, one brother, Gary (Diane) Maze of Lima; one
sister, Phyllis (Kenny) GRIFFITH of Columbus Grove; four
grandchildren, Brandy, Ashley, Nicole and Joey Maze and two
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother,
Phillip Maze and a sister, Peggy Maze. Mr. Maze was a member
of the McGuffy Freewill Baptist Church. He was a truck driver
for 48 years and founder of Maze Tire Disposal. A memorial
service willbe held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Freewill Baptist
Church, with the Rev. Dave Trusty officiating. Arrangements

Additional Information: Kenneth L. Stahlman, 84, 1031
Williams Street, St. Marys, died Monday, March 1, 2001, at
St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla. He was born
July 15, 1916, at West Berne, N.Y. the son of Ezra and Arcia
D. (Cole) Stahlman. On Aug. 28, 1937, he married Ruth O.
Dangler, who died Mov. 23, 1996. He is survived by two sons,
Dana (Mary) Stahlman of Columbus and James (Faye) Stahlman of
Warsaw, Ind.; a daughter, Patricia (Dr. Robert) MILLER of St.
Petersburg; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerold Stahlman. Mr.
Stahlman was employed as an electrician at the Ford Motor Co.
at Lima. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys
and an amateur radio enthusiast. Funeral services will be at
10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys within
the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial will be at Blue
Creek Cemetery in Paulding. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m.
Monday. Memorials may be directed to Zion Lutheran Church.

6330 St. Rt. 119, Minster, died at 2:44 p.m. Tuesday, March
6, 2001, in Joint Township District Memorial Hospital. She
was born Nov. 7, 1958 in Jellico, Tenn. the daughter of
Walter F. and Mary E. Hale Green. On Aug. 15, 1980, she
married Michael Doseck who survives. Other survivors include
three daughters, Regina (Ricky) ELSON of Sidney, Elizabeth
Doseck and Misty Doseck at home; four grandchildren; two
brothers, Kyle Green and William Green and two sisters,

Botkins. She worked at Holloway Sportswear. A Funeral Service

Additional Information: LeRoy H. Kruse, 82, 107 S. Main St.,
New Knoxville, died at 4:25 p.m. Sunday, March 4, 2001, at
his home following a lengthy illness. He was born May 26,
1918, in St. Marys, the son of Henry and Mathilda (Opperman)
Kruse. On Nov. 3, 1943, he married Rachel Wierwille, who
survives. Other survivors include two sons, Steve (Sharon)
Kruse of New Knoxville and Rodney (Dawn) Kruse of Greenville,
S.C.; a sister, Margaret RUPERT of St. Marys; three
grandchildren, Marlene Kruse HENSCHEN of New Knoxville and
Nicholas and Alexa Kruse, both of Greenville, S.C.; and two
great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kelly Henschen of New
Knoxville. He was preceded in death by two sisters, and a
brother. Mr. Kruse was retired as Auglaize County Recorder
and was founder and owner of the former Tastee Freeze
Restaurant in New Knoxville. A 1938 graduate of Memorial High
School in St. Marys, he was a member of the First United
Church of Christ in New Knoxville, the St. Marys Kiwanis Club
and the Wapakoneta Elks. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and
spending time with his grandchildren; Funeral services will
be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Church of
Christ with the Rev. David Hunt and the Rev. Nathan Wierwille
officiating. Burial will follow at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in
New Knoxville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at
the Vornholt-Miller Funeral Home in New Knoxville, where

91, Benton Street, Wapakoneta, died at 6:50 a.m. Sunday,
March 4, 2001, at Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta. She was born
Jan. 24, 1910, in Tonica, Ill., the daughter of Ralph and
Edith (Cofield) Miller. On Aug. 18, 1931, she married
Frederick M. Schneider, who preceded her in death. Survivors
include two sisters-in-law, Ella Mae Miller of Wapakoneta and
MaDonna Schneider of Dayton, and two nephews Larry and Dennis
Miller of Lima. She was preceded in death by three brothers,
Bruce Miller, DeWitt Miller, and Stanley Miller. A homemaker,
Mrs. Schneider worked at the Wiggins Restaurant in Cincinnati
and prior to that at the Dixie Restaurant in Wapakoneta. She
was a 1927 graduate of Blume High School in Wapakoneta.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the
Arlington Memorial Gardens in Mount Healthy. There will be no
local visitation. Arrangements are beig handled by the
Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta.

died at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2001 in his residence.
He was born Sept. 23, 1923 in Uniopolis, the son of Kepple
George and Eva Clark Dickson. He married Diana Raines Howell
Dickson, who survives. Other survivors include: four
daughters, Karen BLODGETT of Columbus, Mary Beth WEBB of

death by one sister, Dortha MYERS. Mr. Dickson had been a
truck driver for Duff Truck Lines and was retired from
Niswonger Chevrolet. He served in the U. S. Army during World
War II. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in
Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville, with the Rev.
Terry Brock officiating. Burial will follow in St. Matthew

77, Dorothy Lane, St. Marys, died at 4:22 a.m. Friday, March
2, 2001, at Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in St.
Marys. She was born Sept 5, 1923, at Ansonia, the daughter of
Raymond and Goldie (Westfall) Holdeman. She married Ernest
Decker, who died Jan. 4, 2001. Survivors include three sons
Jack (Ginger) FIGEL of St. Marys, James HARTER of Van Wert
and Fred HARTER of Marion; a sister, Betty BOGGS of Sebring,
Fla.; two brothers, Marvin Holdeman and Don Holdeman, both of
Greenville; four granchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by three brothers, Gene, Emerson and
Willis Holdeman; and two sisters, Dorothy and Ruby Holdeman.
Mrs. Decker was a homemaker who enjoyed fishing, gardening,
animals and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a
member of American Legion 323 Auxiliary. Funeral services
will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys
with the Rev. John Nunnally officiating. Private graveside
committal will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until the time of services
Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart and

New Bremen, Feb. 25-Byron A. Katterheinrich, age 39, farmer
and cement tile manufacturer residing northwest of New Bremen
on the Clover Four Road, was found dead of a heart attack at
10:15 p.m. Wednesday. His lifeless body was found by Luther
Hirschfeld and Lawrence Meckstroth on the New Knxoville-New
Bremen road, a quarter mile west of New Knoxville near the
Arthur Eschmeyer farm, as they came along west-bound in their
automobiles. Two of his children, Peggy and Joe
Katterheinrich, who were found shortly afterward in the
Katterheinrich automobile near the Walter Althoff farm west
of the Eschmeyer farm, said the car had run out of gasoline
as they were enroute home from a New Knoxville Methodist
church meeting and that their daddy had started to walk back
to New Knoxville for fuel. Death was determined due to a
heart atack in a post mortem performed at St. Rita's
hospital, Lima, where Mr. Katterheinrich's body was removed
in the Gilberg and Hegemier invalid coach. Mr. Katterheinrich
was born June 3, 1914, in Washington township, a son of
Wesley Katterheinrich and the late Flora Settlage
Katterheinrich. On June 19, 1938, he married Anna Maurer who
is left to mourn his death with three three children,
Douglas, a freshman in New Bremen high school. Peggy, a fifth
grader and Joe a second grader; his father and stepmother,
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Katterheinrich, New Knoxville, three
sisters, Mrs. Bernard (Frances) Brady, Mrs. Ferd (Jennie)
Meckstroth and Mrs. C.R. (Olga) Stienecker and one brother,
Melvin Katterheinrich, all of New Knoxville. He was a New
Knoxville councilman for tow years and a was a member of the
offical board of the New Knoxville Methodist church in which
he was very active. Some years ago he lost a hand in a grain
elevator accident but he had not permitted the amputation to
handicap him. He was in business with Woodrow Piehl operating
the New Knoxville Cement Tile company, and was widely known
throughout the community. Funeral services are arranged for
Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at his late residence west of 66 on the
Clover Four road and at 2 p.m. at the New Knoxville Methodist
church. The Rev. Gilbert D. Heaton will officiate. Burial
will be made in Schwaberow cemetery. His body will be removed
Friday morning from the Vornholt Funeral Home to the
residence where friends may call at any time until the
funeral.

Henry Gausepohl, 77, Minster, died yesterday morning at 11
o'clock in Joint ?Township Memorial hospital. He was admitted
to the hospital a week ago due to a cerebral hemorrhage from
which he never recovered The son of the late Bernard and Ann
Bergman Gausepohl, he was born June 19, 1876, on Minster
Route 1. He retired from farming 18 years ago and moved into
Minster city. He is survived by two brothers Frank, Minster,
and Joseph, Minster Route 1. He was a member of St. Augustine
church. The Requiem High Mass will ge held at St. Augustine
church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock with the Rev. William
Meyers officiating Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery.

Mrs. Pauline C. Wehmeyer, age 75, wife of Louis Wehmeyer,
R.R.1, New Bremen, died at 7:55 a.m. today at Joint Township
Memorial hospital where she had been readmitted last evening
for treatment. Mrs. Wehmeyer had submitted to major surgery
six weeks ago at the hospital. She was taken from the
hospital to the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. Arthur SCHROYER, Kettlersville, where she was
convalescing slowly preparatory to a second operation.
Complications resulted in her death. Mrs. Wehmeyer was the
daughter of the late William and Mary Katterheinrich
Settlage. She was born Sept 8, 1885 near New Knoxville. On
April 15, 1915 she was married to Louis Wehmeyer who survives
her along with their two children, Mrs. Arthur (Margaret)
Schroyer, Kettlersville, and Robert Wehmeyer, R.R.1, New
Bremen, seven grandchildren, one brother, William J.
Settlage, R.R. New Knoxville. Mrs. Wehmeyer was a member of
the St. Paul's United Church of Christ and the Ladies Aid,
taking an active part in them when her health permitted.
Funeral services are arranged for 2 p.m. Thursday at the
Vornholt Funeral Home, New Bremen with the Rev. E.H. Bassler,
D.D. officiating. Burial will take place in German Protestant
Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after

Additional Information: New Bremen- Louis Wehmeyer, age 80,
R.R.1, New Bremen, died at noon Saturday at the Valley
Nursing Home here. (St.Marys) He had been ill for six weeks
suffering with a complication of diseases. He had been
transferred to the nursing home from Joint Township Memorial
hospital where he had been hospitalized for several weeks.
Mr. Wehmeyer had made his home for the last five years in
Kettlersville with his son-in-law and duaghter, Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur SHROYER. He was born April 15, 1887, in Auglaize
county, the son of Henry and Sophy Wehmeyer. On April 15,
1915 he maried Pauline Settlage who preceded him in death on
Jan. 30, 1961. Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. Arthur
(Margaret) Shroyer, of Kettersville, a son, Robert Wehmeyer,
R.R.1, New Bremen, eight grandchildren, one great grandson, a
sister, Mrs. Dora WARNER, of St. Marys, and a brother, the
Rev. Herman Wehmeyer of Bethel, Conn. There are many friends
here and in Kettlersville. Three children died in infancy. He
was preceded in death by two brothers, and three sisters. Mr.
Wehmeyer had retired from active farming several years ago.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the
Vornholt Funeral Home, New Bremen, with the Rev. E.H.
Bassler, D.D. officiating. Burial will take place in German
Protestant cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home

Information: Robert J. Kiefer, 80, 10800 State Route 364, St.
Marys, died of an apparent heart attack late Tuesday morning,
March 13, 2001, at his home. He was born June 17, 1920, in
Wapakoneta, the son of Robert N. and Florence Tina (Koehn)
Kiefer. Survivors include two nephews, Robert (Patty) Kiefer
of St. Marys and William (Karen) Kiefer of Mendon; five
nieces, Sandy Kiefer of Celina, Connie (Richard) MEINERDING,
Nancy (Donald) BROTHERWOOD and Linda (Harry) BURD, all of St.
Marys, and Betty GILBERT of Mendon; and many great-nieces and
great-nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers,
George Kiefer and William Keifer; two infant sisters; a niece
Janet Sue Kiefer; and a nephew, Ricky Lee Kiefer. Mr. Kiefer
was retired from the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. of St.
Marys after 32 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army
in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a
life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 and the
Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 767, both in St. Marys.

Mrs. Hazel MILLER of St. Marys and Robert Conkle of Neptune
received word Saturday evening of the death of their brother,
Fred Conkle, 66, of Springfield, Mr. Conkle, died suddenly of
a heart attack at 9:30 p.m. at his residence at Clairmont
Avenue where he and Mrs. Conkle were entertaining friends.
Mr. Conkle was born in 1894 in St. Marys to the late Soloman
and Emmma Hartman Conkle. He married the former Jean Maiden
who survives along with one sister and two brothers, Mrs.
Hazel Miller, St. Marys, Robert Conkle, Neptune and Harold
Conkle of Dayton, four nephews, Dr. John SPENCER, Richard
Spencer, both of Springfield, Fred Conkle, Neptune and Dr.
Roy Miller, Columbus. Mr. Conkle had been a foreman at the
Springfield Tool and Die Company until one year ago when he
retired. He and Mrs. Conkle then went to England to spend a
three months vacation. The funeral service will be conducted

2 p.m. Saturday at Siferd's funeral home, Wapakoneta for Miss
Mary A. Doering, 89, of 206 E. Mechanic Street, Wapakoneta,
who died at St. Ritas hospital in Lima Wednesday evening. She
had fallen on the ice suffering a hip fracture on Jan. 12.
Complications from the injury caused her death. Miss Doering
was born Sept. 5, 1871 in Moulton Township to the late John
and Agatha Burk Doering. She had never married and had lived
most of her life in the Moulton community where she had made
her home with her sister Miss Ella Doering. Sixteen years ago
she and her sister moved to present address in Wapakoneta.
Surviving in addition to her sisters, Miss Ella are a sister-
in-law, Mrs. John J. Doering, Wapakoneta, one niece, Mrs.
Edna RIEBESELL, Lima and three grandnephews. Two sisters and
one brothers preceded her in death. Miss Doering was the
oldest member of the Trinity Lutheran church in Moulton and a

2523 Elsmere Drive, Dayton, died at 12 noon Sunday at Good
Samaritan Hospital in Dayton, where she had been a patient
for some time. Death was due to complications. Surviving are

hospital, where he is under treatment for pneumonia, three

Additional Information: The Rev. John M. Sailer, 82, pastor
of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Dayton and former pastor of
Holy Rosary Church, St. Marys, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at
Miami, Fla, where he was vacationing. He was the founder of
St. Agnes church in 1915 and had been pastor there ever
since. He was a native of Germany and had spent most of his
childhood in North Dakota. He attended Renssalaer, Ind.,
seminary, St. Gregory and Mount St. Marys seminaries in
Cincinnati. The Rev. Father Sailer offered his first mass in
St. Catherine's church in Valley City N.D.and received his
first appointment as professor at St. Gregory seminary in
1904. Two years later he was assigned to St. Beniggius
Catholic church in Greenfield. From 1908 to 1915 he served as
pastor of St. Sebastion church, Mercer county and Holy Rosary
Catholic Church St. Marys. The Office of the Dead will be
chanted for the Rev. Father Sailer Thursday morning at 10
o'clock. A pontifical mass of requiem will be chanted at
10:30 a.m. in St. Agnes church.

South Beech Street,(St. Marys) died last evening at 10:40 at
the Rohrbach Rest home in Cridersville where she had been a
patient since February 2. Death was attributed to a stroke
which she had suffered Thursday. Prior to her entering the
home she had been a patient at the local hospital for two
weeks and had been in failing health for two years. Mrs.
Kiefer was born October 3, 1876 in Mercer County to the late
Wesley and Minerva Vian Ransbottom. Three husbands preceded
her in death. They were George LONG, Jesse KUHLHORST and Burt
KIEFER. Mr. Kiefer died in 1939. Survivors include five
grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, Jesse
Ransbottom, R.R.5, Celina, and one sister, Mrs. Harold
(Lulu) HUSBAND, Miami, Florida, four daughters-in-law, Mrs.

John Jacob Lintz, 83, of 501 Indiana Avenue, widely known
throughout the community, died suddenly Sunday at 12:45 a.m.
at his home. Death was due to a heart attack. He had been
suffering with asthma for the past several weeks. Mr. Lintz
was born September 10, 1887 in St. Marys to the late Jacob J.
and Dorothea Kappell Lintz. He had lived his entire life in
the St. Marys community. He was the owner and the operator of
the "Candy Box" formerly located in the Limbacher
bakery. Mr. Lintz was a member of the St. Paul's United
Church of Christ. Surviving are three sisters, Miss Minnie

services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wheeler
cemetery, north of Wapakoneta for the unidentified man,
fatally injured on U.S. Highway 33, west of Wapakoneta, last
Thursday. The Rev. John E. Neff of the Presbyterian church,
St. Marys, will conduct the service. The body will be removed
to the cemetery from Vore and Folk Funeral Home. It will be
interred in one of the gravelots owned by Auglaize county.
The man had given officers his name as Jack Stein at Lima and
Jaik Steeln at Wapakoneta. In the waistband of his trousers
his name was printed as James Stine. A social security card
he was carrying bore the name James WEST but this card was
later determined to be that of a fellow prisoner in the Lima
jail.

Additional Information: John Sylvester Noonan, age 83, 610
North Spruce Street, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday at the family
residence after an extended illness with a complication of
diseases. He was a retired school teacher, having served for
25 years as a teacher in the rural schools and as a
substitute for some years thereafter. He was born here in St.
Marys on January 5, 1870, the son of the late Daniel and
Lucinda Seibert Noonan. On September 2, 1914 he married Mary
A. Lemkuhl who survives him along with five children, Richard
Noonan, 1013 Broadway Avenue, Piqua; Robert Noonan, 534
East Ormsby, Louisville, Kentucky; Miss Mildred Noonan, St.
Marys, Mrs. Richard UHLENHAKE and Mrs. Arthur DREES of St.
Marys; 14 grandchildren and one brother, Andrew Noonan,
Portland, Oregon. A daughter, Virginia and four brothers are
deceased. There are many friends. He was a lifelong member of
Holy Rosary church and a member of the Holy Name Society.
Funeral services are arranged for 9:30 a.m. Friday at Holy
Rosary Catholic church. A solemn requiem high mass will be
offered by the Rev. Leo Lemkuhl of Norwalk, celebrant, Rev.
John Lemkuhl, Delphos, deacon and the Rev. Harold Bernard
subdeacon. The Rev. Frs. Lemkuhl are nephews of Mrs. Noonan.
Burial will take place in Gethsemane cemetery. The body will
be removed from the Vore & Folk Funeral Home to his own
residence where friends may call Thursday afternoon and
evening. Members of Holy Name Society and men of the parish
will meet at the residence at 7:30 Thursday evening to offer
prayers for the deceased.
