services for Clarence F. SCHELLENBARG will be conducted
Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Yoder & Son
Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul J. Strouse officiating.
Burial will be made in Elmgrove cemetery. The deceased who
formerly resided in St. Marys, was instantly killed at 7:20
Saturday evening in an automobile accident in Warren County.
He resided in Union City, Indiana, R.R. Friends may call at
the Funeral Home anytime after seven o'clock tonight.

Obituary / Additional Information: Samuel Wesley Stevenson,
82, retired farmer, died yesterday morning at 8 o'clock at
the home of his son, Charles Srevenson, St. Marys, Route 1,
near Kossuth. He had been ill for one week. The deceased was
a son of the late Charles and Dorothy Howell Stevenson and
resided in Allen and Auglaize counties during his entire
lifetime. He was born on January 4, 1867. Surviving are two
sons, Charles and William, of Lima; 13 grandchildren; 12
great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Arthur BOEDICKER of
Lima. His wife, Lavina, died in February 1931. Five brothers
and three sisters are also deceased. Funeral services will be
held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Bayliff Funeral
Home in Cridersville. Burial will be made in Willow Branch
cemetery, near Waynesfield. Friends may call at the Funeral
Home.

the death yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock of Mrs. Lillian
Aufderhaar, 67, in Memorial hospital, Lima, where she had
been a patient the past week. Mrs. Aufderhaar, who resided
south of Moulton on St. Marys Rural Route 3, was a native of
Mercer County, born Januray 10, 1882, a daughter of the late
Henry and Wilhelmina Waterman Brune. She moved to this county
in 1892. On March 1, 1906, she was married to William F.
Aufderhaar, who preceded her in death. She is survived by
three children, Orville Aufderhaar of New Knoxville; Mrs.
Norman (Leona) HOGE of St. Marys Rural Route 3, and Beulah,
at home; one grandchild Janet HOGE; and two brothers, Harry
BRUNE of St. Marys and Fred BRUNE of Paulding, Ohio. One
child is deceased. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from the residence with Dr. D.A. Bode
officiating. Burial will be in Elmgrove cemetery. The body
will be removed from the Yoder & Son Funeral Home Sunday
morning to the residence where friends may call at any time
until the final rites.

Additional Information: Ernest M. Decker Jr., 80, 1130
Knoxville Ave., St. Marys died at 7:20 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4,
2001, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St.
Marys. He was born June 22, 1920, in Duluth, Minn., the son
of Ernest Decker Sr. and Ethel (Norton) Decker. On Nov. 1,
1966, he married Virginia Holdeman, who survives. Other
survivors include a son, Jackie (Ginger) FIGEL Sr. of St.
Marys; four grandchildren, Rosemary MCELROY and Christopher
FIGEL of St. Marys, Mathew Figel of Delphos and Jackie Figel
Jr. of Mendon; and 14 great grandchildren. Mr. Decker was a
veteran of the U.S. Army Corps during World War II. He
recieved the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one bronze
battle star. He was a graduate of Flint High School in Flint,
Mich., and formerly resided in in Fort Myers, Fla. Private
family funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the
Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys, where American Legion Post
323 will conduct military burial rites. Burial will follow at
Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys. There will be no visitation.

145 S. Frankfort St., Minster, died at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan.
3, 2001, in Auglaize County as a result of an auto accident.
She was born March 7, 1974, in Greenville, the daughter of
Carl and Virginia (Frantz) Moorman, who both survive in
Versailles. On Nov. 30, 1996, she married Anthony S. Borges,
who survives. Other survivors include a sister, Karen (John)
BERNING of Ft. Laromie; two brothers, Ken (Jill) Moorman and
Keith (Rhonda) Moorman, both of Versailles; her father-in-
law, Steven Borges of Minster; two brothers-in-law, Don
Borges and Ron Borges, both of Minster; a sister-in-law, Jodi
Borges of Minster; and her grandparents-in-law, Leo and
Jeanette Borges of Minster and Zeno and Julianna BRACKMAN of
St. Joe. She was preceded in death by her grandparents,
Clarence and Bertha Moorman and Bernard and Marie Frantz, and
her mother-in-law, Mary Borges. Mrs. Borges was a nurses'
aide at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St.
Marys. She was a 1992 graduate of Versailles High school and
a 2000 graduate of Lima Technical College School of Nursing.
She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Minster
and a member of the Minster Area Life Squad. A mass of
Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St.
Augustine Catholic Church with the Rev. William Hoyng
officiating. Burial will follow in St. Augustine Cemetery in
Minster. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9
to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home in Minster.
Memorials may be directed to the Minster Area Life Squad.

Obituary / Additional Information: Henry W. Koch, 77,
Wapakoneta R.R.5, died at 6 o'clock this morning at the St.
Mary's Nursing Home where he had been under treatment for a
week for complications. He was owner of the Koch Sand and
Gravel Company. Today was his 77th birthday. Mr. Koch is
survived by his widow, Mrs. Malinda Burkhart Koch, seven
children, Frank, Carl, William, John, Frederick, Mrs. Arthur
FISHER, Wapakoneta, R.R. 5, Mrs. Wallace WHITE, Marion, O.,
two stepchildren, Artie BURKHART and Mrs. Ralph MERTZ of St.
Marys. His first wife, Lena Gray Koch, died in 1931. He was a
member of the St. John's Lutheran church, Fryburg, Ohio.
Siferd & Brookhart, Wapakoneta, are in charge of funeral
arrangements to be announced later.

Additional Information: Henry Adams Bambauer, 74, of 209
Jefferson Street, Wapakoneta, succummbed at 5:15 p.m.
yesterday in Lima Memorial hospital, where he has been a
patient since May 14. Complications following surgery May 16
caused his death. Born November 26, 1874, in Van Buren
township, Shelby county, he was the son of Henry and Barbara
Paul Bambauer. He spent most of his life as a farmer in
Shelby county, moving on June 15, 1944 to his late residence
on Jefferson street. On June 26, 1900, he married Ida
Tangeman, who died October 10, 1929. He married Matilda Kuck
on December 3, 1932. She survives with a daughter, Mrs.
Daniel BECKER of near Kettlersville; three sons, Robert and
Forest of Botkins route 1, and Leonard of Lima route 1, seven
grandchildren; two great grandchildren, five sisters, Mrs.
Caroline VALENTINE, Mrs. Rose GEIB of Wapakoneta, Mrs. Bertha
MELCHER of Lima, Mrs. Ida STEIN of Sidney and Mrs. Mae MAUER
of Botkins. One son and four brothers are deceased. Several
years ago Mr. Bambauer was township trustee of Van Buren
township. He was a member of the Wapakoneta Church of the
Nazarene.

Bremen, May 19-Mrs. William KLANKE and F.T. PURPUS received
word yesterday of the death of their sister, Mrs. William
(Alma) Bowman, 74, at her home in Dayton Tuesday. She had
been ill since February. A native of New Bremen, Mrs. Bowman
had resided in Dayton for many years. She was a frequent
visitor here. Surviving with the husband are four sons, Mr.
Arthur Bowman of St. Louis, Mo., Dr. Warren Bowman of
Greenville, O., Dr. Albert Bowman of Dayton, and Major
William Bowman of Ft. Knox, Ky.; her sister, Mrs. Klanke and
brother, Mr. Purpus. A daughter is deceased. Those from New
Bremen who will attend the funeral services Friday afternoon
in Dayton are Mrs. Klanke, Mrs. Beata ISERN, Mr. Purpus, Mr
and Mrs. Harry NUSSMEYER, and Mr. and Mrs. R.H. DICKMAN.

services were conducted this morning from the St. Joseph's
Catholic church, Wapakoneta, for Mary A. Bustetter, 75, sho
died Sunday at the Auglaize county home. She had been ill
several years. A native of Auglaize county, she was the
daughter of the late Matthias and Susan Bustetter and the
last of six children. She was a member of the Immaculate
Conception Sodality.

Word was received here today of the death of Dr. Holmes
Harshbarger, Cincinnati dentist. He was a son of the late
Rev. J. F. Harshbarger, pastor of the Methodist church in St.
Marys, shortly before the turn of the century. Dr.
Harshbarger is survived by his widow, one daughter, and
brother, Raymond in Toledo.

St. Marys resident, died last night of a heart attack at a
hospital in Detroit., Mich, according to word received here.
He had been under treatment for a heart ailment for more than
a week and was believed to be improving when he was fatally
stricken. Mr. Smith was the son of Mrs. Harvey C. Smith and
the late Harvey Smith, former St. Marys Dodge dealer. He was
graduate of St. Marys high school class of 1923, and last
Thursday observed his 44th birthday. Surviving him are his
widow, a daughter, Marilyn, his mother, and one sister, Mrs.
Fritz LIMBACHER, Sidney. He was employed as a salesman. His
residence was at 18475 Lauder Avenue, Detroit (19) Mich.
Funeral services will be held in Detroit at one o'clock
Tuesday afternoon. His mother went to Detroit a week ago in
response to word of his illness.

Additional Information: Howard M. "Mac" Elshire,
81, Nottingham Drive, Wapakoneta, died at 2 p.m. Tuesday,
Dec. 12, 2000, at Auglaize Acres. He was born Nov. 30, 1919,
in LaPorte, Ind., the son of John and Mabel (Morrow) Elshire.
On Jan. 9, 1942, he married Betty M. Tonn, who survives.
Other survivors include three sons, John (Priscilla) Elshire,
James (Diane) Elshire and Joel Elshire, all of Wapakoneta; a
daughter, Heather (Tom) CURTIS of Raleigh, N.C.; a sister,
Delight (Robert) MULLARKEY of Ocala, Fla.; a sister-in-law,
Helen Elshire of La Porte, Ind.; seven grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a
brother, Robert Elshire. Mr. Elshire had retired as a
construction project manager with Peterson Construction Co.
in Wapakoneta. He was a member of the First United Methodist
Church in Wapakoneta. He was also a member of the Hamer Lodge
167, F. & A.M., in Wapakoneta, and the Ancient and
Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Dayton. He was past
president of the Wapakoneta Country Club. A graduate of
LaPorte High school, where he was a member of the Sports Hall
of Fame, he attended Purdue University, where he played on
the football team. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta
with the Rev. Richard Bell officiating. Friends may call from
6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home
in Wapakoneta, where a masonic memorial service will be at

of rural Wapakoneta died at 2:05 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2000,
at Auglaize Acres, where he had resided six years. She was
born July 7, 1908, in Auglaize County, the daughter of
William E. and Cora M. (Hill) Mitchell. On July 22, 1931, she
married Willie Holtzapple, who died Feb. 12, 1977. Survivors
include a brother, Perry E. (Mary) MITCHELL of Sun City
West, Ariz.,; several nieces and nephews, great and great-
great-nieces and nephews and friends. She was preceded in
death by a brother, Cloid Mitchell, and a sister, Yetta
EVERSMAN. A homemaker, Mrs. Holtzapple was a avid gardener,
loving family member and friend. Funeral services will be at
4 p.m. Saturday at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in
Spencerville, with Lay Pastor David U. Severt officiating.
Burial will be Monday in the St. Matthew Cemetery, north of
Cridersville. Friends may call after 2 p.m. until services
Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be
made to the Alzheimers Association or to the Bethlehem
Christian Union Church.

at Springview Manor in Lima. She was born Oct. 6, 1910, in
Lima, the daughter of Edward H. and Emma L. (Pfifer) Holt. On
Aug. 24, 1952, she married Raymond Thomas, who died Dec. 1,
1990. Survivors include a son, William (Sharon) TURNER of
Bradenton, Fla.; a twin sister, Ruth (Russell) TESTER of
Lima; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She
was preceded in death by a son, David RUFF, a brother and two
sisters. Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker. Funeral services will

services will be held Monday morning at 9:30 o'clock from the
Faulder residence, 817 West Auglaize Street, Wapakoneta, for
Dr. George B. Faulder, prominent area physician, who died
yesterday morning in a Toledo hospital. Friends may call at
the Siferd and Brookhart Funeral home Wapakoneta, Sunday
afternoon and evening until 9 p.m. Dr. Faulder was a graduate
of the University of Michigan School of Medicine, Ann Arbor,
Mich., and at one time served as an instructor at Ohio State
University. He had been practicing medicine in Wapakoneta
since shortly after the end of the first World War, during
which he served overseas. After his return he was associated
with his brother, Dr. Harry Faulder, now deceased. He was a
member of the Wapakoneta Masonic Blue Lodge Scottish Rite of
Columbus, Aladdin Shrine Temple of Columbus, the Auglaize
County 32 Club and the Lima Shrine Club of the American
Medical Association and the Auglaize County Academy of
Medicine. He served about eight years on the Wapakoneta
School Board and at one time was president of the Board. He
was a member of the courtesy staffs of both Memorial and St.
Rita's Hospitals, Lima. Dr. Faulder had been in failing
health for some time and had spent the past winter at
Hollywood and Naples, Florida. He returned to Wapakoneta
Easter Sunday. He entered the hospital about two weeks ago.
Survivors include his wife; two children, George B. Faulder
of Memphis, Tenn.; Mrs. Guy I. (Catherine Ann) COLBY of
Dallas, Texas,; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock in
Elmgrove cemetery for the infant child born prematurely to
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford W. Gallimore, 412 South Vine Street,
St. Marys, the child was born at the residence of Mr. and
Mrs. Jacob SHOLLER, Wapakoneta, maternal grandparents.
Surviving with the parents are two sisters, Connie Lynn and
Shirley Ann, the maternal grandparents, and the paternal
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Gallimore, Celina. Rev. R.V.
Clay officiated at the services. Siferd and Brookhart Funeral
Home, Wapakoneta, had charge of arrangements.

Granville D. Swartz, 76, former manager of the Producers Farm
Bureau Cooperative Association in Wapakoneta, died at his
home on St. John's Route 1 after an illness of one year. A
farmer by occupation, he was at one time a member of the Clay
Township School Board and the T.B. Hospital Board of Lima.
From 1920 to 1930, he and his family resided in Wapakoneta
where he managed the Farm Bureau Association. He married Mary
Matilda Reinhard, who survives with one daughter, Mrs. Esco
(Grace) JONES of St. Johns Route 1; a brother, Forest Swartz,
superintendent of the Auglaize County Home; a sister, Mrs.
Mae MERTZ of Zanesville; five grandchildren; and twelve great
grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday
afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Nazarene Church, Wapakoneta,
of which he was a member. Burial is to be in the Mount Tabor
mausoleum.

Waynesfield, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Florida
Hospital in Orlando, Fla. She was born Sept. 26, 1938, in
Lima, the daughter of Maxwell and Evelyn (Walters) Shaw. Her
mother survives in Kissimmee, Fla. On Dec. 4, 1994, she
married Frank J. Carroll, who survives in Waynesfield. Other
survivors include a son, Kirk (Marriel) MILLER of Columbus;
two daughters, Kelly (Ted) ENDEL of Waynesfield and Christine
APPLEGATE of Wapakoneta; a twin sister, Janis (Victor) NOLAN
of Punta Gorda, Fla.; a stepson, Scott (Michelle) CARROLL of
Lima; two stepdaughters, Taryn (Kevin) MCVICKER of Lima and
Stacy (Troy) WARD of Vero Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren and
seven step-grandchildren. Mrs. Carroll was a homemaker.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Chamberlain-
Huckeriede Funeral Home in Lima with the Rev. Don Smith
officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Branch Cemetery in
Waynesfield. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at
the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the American
Heart Association.

today from the Mount Tabor Methodist church for Mrs. Helen
Hardin, 27, wife of Earl L. Hardin of St. Johns Route 1. She
died Saturday in St. Rita's hospital, Lima, where she had
been a medical patient since April 23. She was born October
21, 1921 in Union township, Auglaize county, the daughter of
Howard L. and Helena Briggs Rader of Wapakoneta. Route 1.
Besides her parents and husband there are two daughters, Judy
and Elaine, at home; two brothers, Neil and Ned Rader, of
Wapakenta Route 1; and a sister, Mrs. Marjorie MCKERCHER of
Maplewood Route 1.

Additional Information: Roger CHILES received word this
morning of the death of his uncle, Frank Harrod, 84, of 11
Oakwood Parkway, Lima, former owner of a Wapakoneta grocery
store. Mr. Harrod died of complications this morning in
Memorial hospital, Lima, where he had been a patient the past
five or six weeks. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon
at 2:30 from the Chiles & Son Funeral Home in Lima.
Surviving are the widow, Sarah, and daughter, Miss Essie,
both of Lima; and a sister, Mrs. Edie LUCK of Wapakoneta.

Bette J. Meier, 64, 2100 Celina Road 63, St. Marys, died at
6:10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at St. Rita's Medical
Center in Lima following an extended illness. She was born
Jan. 4, 1936 in Union Township, Mercer County, the daughter
of Robert and Helen (Thomas) Nolan. Survivors include three

Gibson of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Kurt (Lori) Meier of

Additional Information: Paul V. Nuss, 77, Knierim Road, New
Knoxville, died at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at St.
Rita's Medical Center in Lima. He was born Feb. 27, 1923, in
Wapakoneta, the son of Fred and Erma (Miller) Nuss. On March
9, 1946, he married Helen D. McCullough, who survives. Other
survivors include a son, Ken (Jamie) Nuss of New Knoxville;
two daughters, Karen (Jim) KOHLER of Wapakoneta and Kathy
(Karston) BLUME of Maumee; two sisters, Lola Jean (Robert)
MILLER of Wapakoneta and Catherine LEIS of Spencerville; and
four grnadchildren, Michael Kohler, Sheryl (Lloyd) HONAKER,
Krystle Blume and Kendallyn Nuss. He was preceded in death by
two brothers, Winfred Nuss and Edward Nuss, and two sisters,
Lenora MCNAME and Emily Nuss. Mr. Nuss had worked with the
Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in St. Marys and later as a
laboratory technician with the Brookside Laboratories in New
Knoxville. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S.Army Air
Corps, having served in the China, Burma and India Theatres.
He was awarded the Purple Heart and was a member of the
American Legion Post 444 in New Knoxville and the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 9289 in St. Marys. Mr. Nuss was a member of
the New Knoxville United Methodist Church. He served as past
president of the St. Marys Credit Union. He was also a scout
leader with Boy Scout Troop 40 in New Knoxville, a member of
the Moulton Gun Club and a member of the Ohio State Highway
Patrol Auxiliary. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m.
Saturday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta
with the Rev. Mitch Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in
the Greenlawn Cemetery in Wapakoneta, where military
graveside services will be conducted by the American Legion
Post 444. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Wapakoneta, died at 12:31 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Lima
Memorial Hospital. He was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Waynesfield,
the son of Lewis and Nellie Irene (Gossard) Newland.
Survivors include a sister, Janet (John) SAWMILLER of
Waynesfield; a niece, Jill (Mark) STUBBS of Lima; a nephew,
Jed (Caril) Sawmiller of Seattle, Wash.; and three great-
nephews. Mrs. Newland was a laborer for Auglaize Industries.
He was a member of Waynesfield Baptist Church, attended
Wapakoneta Church of the Nazarene and was an honorary member
of Waynesfield Senior Citizens. Funeral services will be at
10 a.m. Saturday at Chiles and Sons-Lamen Funeral Home, Lewis

On May 23, 1940, she married Edward B. Ruppert Sr., who died

"Feen" Axe, 80, Spencerville, died at 4:47 p.m.
Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He had been a resident of Roselawn Manor in Spencerville. He
was born July 12, 1920, in St. Marys, the son of Joseph A.
Axe II and Clara E. (Dieringer) Axe. On July 30, 1960, he
married Jennie C. Lauth, who survives. Other survivors
include a sister, Rose Margaret (Louis) PFEFFENBERGER of St.
Marys; two brothers, Lawrence "Mike" (Anna) Axe of
St. Marys and Thomas R. "Dick" (Wilma) Axe of
Kansas City, Kans; a sister-in-law, Annie Axe of Van Wert;
and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by
five brothers, Cletus L. "Red" Axe, James V. Axe,
Urban G. Axe, Joseph Damion "Ding" Axe and Francis
J. "Joe" Axe. Mr. Axe retired after 37 years in
quality control at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in St.
Marys. He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church and
Holy Name society in Spencerville. He was a 1939 graduate of
St. Marys Memorial High School. From 1937 to 1940, he was a
member of the Ohio National Guard in St. Marys, 148th
Infantry, 3rd Battalion. He served in the U.S. Army from 1942
to 1946 during World War II and was a life member of the
Bowersock Brothers VFW Post 191, both of Spencerville. For
several years he served as chaplin of the VFW. He volunteered
at the Spencerville Grade School for three years and worked
for the Village of Spencerville for three years. He was an
avid baseball fan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at
10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Patrick Catholic Church with the
Rev. John Fleck officiating. Burial will follow in the
Spencerville Cemetery, where graveside military rites will be

was born March 26, 1927, in Shelby County to Edward H. and
Gladys (Davis) Leach. On July 17, 1945, she married Roy J.
Gariety, who preceeded her in death. On Nov. 29, 1969, she
married Ralph Kueterman, who died Sept. 20, 1995. Survivors
include two sons, Bruce J. Gariety and Brian J. Gariety, both
of Sidney; a daughter, Bonnie (Craig) LAMB of St. Marys; two
stepsons, Steve Kueterman of Sidney and David Kueterman of
Indiana; three stepdaughters, Kathy (Jeff) FAIR and Diane

Daniel G. (Deborah) Wilges, both of Wapakoneta; a brother,
Junior (Betty) Bell of Quincy; two grandsons, Scott (Becky)
Stiles and Daren (Ann) Stiles; and three great-grandchildren,
Jordan, Zachary and Maddi Stiles. She was preceded in death
by three brothers, Wayne, Harold and Lester Bell, and a
sister, Rose Artie BURROUGHS. A homemaker, Mrs. Wilges was a
member of First United Methodist Church in Wapakoneta.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the
Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home with the Rev. G. Richard Bell
officiating. Burial will follow in the Buckland Cemetery in
Buckland. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the
funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's
Association.

Survivors include a son, Samuel (Lavonna) Springer of

Troy, Mich., formerly of St. Marys died at 12:10 a.m. Friday,
Dec. 15, 2000, at St. John's Oakland General Hospital in
Madison Heights, Mich. He was born July 15, 1916, in Corbin
Ky., the son of John and Stella (Parman) Walden. On May 5,
1955, he married Dorothy Maxine Kohlhorst, who survives.
Other survivors include a daughter, Sandra (Randy) MICHAEL of
Rochester Hills, Mich.; a son, Ronald B. Walden of New Smyrna
Beach, Fla.; a sister, Beaulah HEATH of Highland, Mich.,

St., St. Marys died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at
SCCI Hospital in Lima after an extended illness. She was born
Sept. 29, 1941, in Ligeon, Ky., the daughter of Ercel and
Ella (Holbrook) Blair. On Sept. 17, 1959, she married Nelson
E. Rupard, who survives. Other survivors include two
daughters, Deb (John) KABLE and Sonya Rupard, both of St.
Marys; two sons, Nelson Rupard Jr. and Ronald (Brenda)
Rupard, both of St. Marys; a brother, James Blair of West
Palm Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Nina (Carroll) BOLLENBACHER of
Celina and Scarlett (Michael) HELMSTETTER of St. Marys; and
nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her
parents; a son, Gregory, who died in infancy; and three
brothers, Joseph, Edwin and Ronnie Blair. Mrs. Rupard had
been a waitress for many years at the former Orchard Tree
Family Restaurant in St. Marys. She enjoyed watching
wrestling on television, dancing and caring for her
grandchildren. She was Baptist by faith. Funeral services
will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home in St.
Marys with Brother Zee Holbrook and Brother Gary Mosley
officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens

Edna M. Nieter, 91, Jackson St, Wapakoneta, died at 12:25
a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Auglaize Acres. She was born
Sept. 15, 1909, in Franklin Township, Mercer County, the
daughter of Franklin A. and Emma L. Heitman Schierholt. In
1928, she married William V. "Bill" Nieter, who
died in August 1965. Survivors include two sons, John (Jean)
Nieter of Wapakoneta and James (Jo Alice) Nieter of Fort
Shawnee; a daughter, Judith BROY of Memphis, Tenn.; a
brother, Willis Schierholt of Carlsbad, N.M.; two sisters,
Melba IDLE of Wapakoneta and Ellen "Tootie" (Earl)
HUCKERIEDE of St. Marys; eight grandchildren; four step-
grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by a brother, Dennis, and a sister, Carmine SCHAEFER. A
homemaker, Mrs. Nieter was matron of the Auglaize County Jail
for 16 years while her husband was Auglaize County Sheriff.
She also worked as a seamstress in her home and later with
Fisher Cheese Co. in Wapakoneta. She was a member of the St.
Paul United Church of Christ in Wapakoneta and a former
member of the O.E.S. Koneta Chapter 385. Funeral services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Bayliff & Eley
Fuenral Home in Wapakoneta with the Rev. John E. Manzo
officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Grove Cemetery

Leonard Frederick, infant son of William Stass and wife
Matilda, dec'd, died at Parker, Ind., November 23rd from a
two weeks' illness of cerebrospinal meningitis at the age of
six months. The parents of the deceased lived in the
neighborhood of New Knoxville but since the death of the
mother the infant has been in the care of near relatives,
having lately been with her aunt in Parker, Ind. The little
one's life was brief. It closed its eyes with a smile to open
again in that beautiful land where He who said, "of such
is the Kingdom of Heaven, " dwelleth.

Wilhelmina Augusta, nee Zwez, wife of Mr. John H.
Brueggemann, died on Saturday November 23rd, 9 o'clock p.m.
from a protracted illness, superinduced by lagrippe, at the
age of 22 years, 11 months and 27 days. Deceased was a
daughter of Mr. Julius F. Zwez and wife Magdalena, nee Heil.
She was born in New Bremen, November 26, 1872; was confirmed
April 18, 1886, in St. Peters church by Rev. Merkle; and
married March 5, 1895 to her surviving husband. She was a
faithful helpmate and a true christian woman. Burial took
place at the German Protestant cemetery Tuesday, Nov. 26,
just 23 years from the day she was born. A large number of
sympathizers attended, also the St. Peter's church choir
which sang appropriate lines at the residence, grave and
chapel. Rev. Fischer conducted the services. The deceased
leaves a husband, parents, one sister, one brother, one
grandmother and many other relatives. (from adjoining

attended the burial of Mrs. Carolina W.A. Brueggeman, wife of

Additional Information: Henry Fred W.C. Wehmeyer, one of the
old settlers of this vicinity, died Monday after a short
illness from lung fever, at the age of 69 years and 23 days.
The deceased was born in the old fatherland, and came after
his marriage to this country, landing in New York in 1885. He
was married to Sophie Marie Caroline Weber, nee Berghorn on
Jan. 25, 1867. Nine children were born to the union, of whom
a son has gone to his last reward. Funeral took place
yesterday afternoon and the remains were interred in the
German Protestant cemetery. Rev. Bertram conducted the
services.

Ruese, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Ruese, died Tuesday
forenoon, 10 o'clock at the age of 4 years, 11 months and 25
days. As reported in these columns last week, the little girl
took suddenly sick from brain fever. Hope was entertained for
her recovery, but despite everything that could be done for
her, she sank into the sleep which knows no waking. The fond
parents have the sincere sympathy of the community. The
little girl was the joy of her parents, and was the very
picture of health. Funeral took place this morning, 10
o'clock, and the remains were interred in the Willow Grove
cemetery. Rev. Stern conducted the services.

Tuesday, 11:45 o'clock, from a protracted illness, at the age

Neva Belle Hoge, 64, 307 W. Silver St., Wapakoneta, was found
dead in her home last evening. Death is believed to have been
from natural causes, however, Dr. John Cruz, Auglaize county
coroner who pronounced her dead, has ordered an autopsy to
determine time and cause of death. The deceased was born
Sept. 3, 1914 in Auglaize County, the daughter of Mrs. Etta
(Comer) Hoge of the same address and the late Henry Hoge.
Mrs. Hoge and her daughter, Neva, had reared Mrs. Norma
Timmerman, Wapakoneta, relative, in their home. Miss Hoge was
a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Wapakoneta and
was a retired employee of Westinghouse Corp., Lima. Services
will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Charles D. Siferd Funeral
Home, Wapakoneta, with Pastor Harold Thiedt officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta. Friends may
call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Burns, 81, formerly of 1911 Washington Street, Hollywood,
Fla. died at 11 :23 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 13, 19999, at
Wapakoneta Manor Nursing Home. She was born Jan. 6, 1918 in
Shelby County to John and Elizabeth Thaman Tebbe. On April
1974 she married William Burns and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by one sister, Norma GATMANN of Wapakoneta
and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by
five brothers: William, Adolph, Vernon, Fr. Lawrence and
Edwin; three sisters: Clara KASTNER, Sr. Clara Marie TEBBE
and Mary KOENIG. Mrs. Bruns was a retired surgical scrub
nurse who had worked at various hospitals in Florida. She was
a graduate of Minster High School and Good Samaritan School
of Nursing in Cincinnati. Private family services will be
held. Entombment will take place at Hollywood Memorial
Gardens in Florida. Miller Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.

Bradford, 82, died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, April 22, 1990, at
Lima Memorial Hospital. He was born Freb. 6, 1908, in
Wapakoneta to William H. and Anna M. (Schick) Bradford. On
Aug. 15, 1931, he married Geneva R. Newland, who survives. He
is also survived by two sons, Thomas Gar and William
Frederick, both of Lima; two grandchildren, Angela Marie
Bradford and Charles Fredrick Bradford; and a sister, Mrs.
Fred (Eileen) HITCHEN, St. Marys. Mr. Bradford was a U.S.
Army veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 1275.
He was retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation where
he was an inspector. He was a member of the Westinghouse
Retirees Club and Garrett Wykoff Lodge 585, F.A.M. He was a
member of the First Church of God. Services will be at 1 p.m.
Wednesday in the church with the Rev. Morris Driggers
officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery with
military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1275. Friends
