Additional Information: Lima-Orloe S. KUCK, 74, died at 5:20
p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 1990, at Lima Memorial Hospital. He
was born July 12, 1916, in Auglaize County to Theodore and
Sarah (LAMMERS) KUCK. On March 16, 1946, he married Dorothy
STREFELT, who survives. He is also survived by two sons,
Daniel and John, both of Lima; a daughter, Mrs. Col. Michael
(Elaine) ZETTLER, Springfield, Va.; seven grandchildren; a
brother Harold, Miami, Fla; and three sisters, Mrs. Viola
EVERSMAN and Mrs. Albert (Marcella) CLAUSING, both of New
Knoxville; and Mrs. Frank (Adella) WILSON, Jackson Center. He
was preceded in death by two daughters. Mr. KUCK was a U.S.
Navy veteran of World War II. He retired in 1980 after 25
years in the maintenance department of Lima Memorial
Hospital. He was a member of Forest Park United Methodist
Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Siferd
Westwood Chapel with the Rev. Marion Hanover officiating.
Burial will be Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call
after 10 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. The preferred memorial
is to the St. Rita's Hospice Program.

/ Additional Information: Dorothy E. KUCK, 76, died at 3:40
p.m. Feb 9, 2000 at the St. Rita's Medical Center. She was
born Dec. 30, 19223, in Cincinnati to John and Laura BROCKMAN
STREFELT. On March 16, 1946, she married Orloe S. KUCK, who
died Dec. 18, 1990. Mrs. KUCK had been a nurse's aide at Lima
Memorial Hospital and Joint Township District Memorial
Hospital, St. Marys. She was a member of Forest Park United
Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Daniel
(Sharran) KUCK and John (Nancy) KUCK, both of Lima; a
daughter, Elaine (Michael) ZETTLER of Oklahoma; three
sisters, Anna Mae HILL of Arizona and Laura FREIDHOF and
Thelma STREFELT, both of Cincinnati; seven grandchildren and
a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two
daughters, Dorothy Mary and Laureen Sarah KUCK; a brother,
Alvin "Boots" STREFELT; and a sister, Vera
STREFELT. Services will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at Siferd
Funeral Homes, Westwood chapel. The Rev. Larry Hopkins will
officiate. Interment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Friends may call one hour prior to servces Saturday at the
funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest
Park United Methodist Church.

Additional Information: New Bremen- Funeral services will be
held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Vornholt Mortuary for R.W.
KUCK, 60, an Auglaize County commissioner since January,
1953, who died late Thursday in the Joint Township Memorial
Hospital at St. Marys where he was admitted Wednesday. Mr.
KUCK, elected to county office in November, 1952, was a
Republican and a former postmaster here. He and a brother,
Ferd, operated the Kuck Oil Company at New Knoxville 13 years
and sold it to another firm five years ago. He was a veteran
of World War I and was a member of the American legion. He
was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church
and of the Men's Brotherhood. Burial will be in the German
Protestant Cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Erma; a son
Eugene, Route 1, New Bremen; a daughter, Mrs. Edward NOBLE,
St. Marys; his mother, Mrs. Mary KUCK, New Knoxville; two
brothers Ferd and Harry KUCK, both of New Knoxville, and four
grandchildren. The body will remain at the funeral home and
friends may call until time of the services.

Additional Information: New Knoxville- Sylvanus T. KUCK, 75,
Route 1, New Knoxville, died of an apparent heart attack at
Joint Township District Memorial Hospital at 1:28 p.m. Sept.
24, 1984. He was born May 26, 1909 southeast of New Knoxville
to Theodore H. and Sarah (LAMMERS) KUCK. He married Ruth
KATTERHENRY, who survives him, Feb. 14, 1936. Other survivors
are a daughter, Ella Mae HEFFNER, St. Marys; two sons,
Kenneth, Loma Linda, Calif. and Robert, Celina; 13
grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Wesley (Viola) EVERSMAN,
New Knoxville; Mrs. Albert (Marcella) CLAUSING, St. Marys;
Mrs. Frank (Adella) WILSON, Jackson Center; and two brothers
Harold, N. Miami, Fla. and Orloe, Lima. Mr. KUCK, a retired
carpenter, was a member of the First United Church of Christ,
New Knoxville, where he was a deacon and trustee. He sang in
the church choir for 34 years. Services will be Thursday at 2
p.m. at the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville,
with Rev. Jon Coddington officiating. Burial will be at
Pilger Ruhe Cemetery, New Knoxville. Friends may call at
Vornholt Funeral Home, New Knoxville, Wednesday from 2-54 and
7-9 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 11-2 p.m. Preferred

Information: Theodore H. KUCK, age 87, of R.R.2, St. Marys,
died Thursday at 11:55 p.m. at Joint Township Memorial
Hospital of complications. He had been ailing for some time
and was a patient at the local hospital since December 9. A
native of Auglaize County, he was born February 27, 1882, the
son of the late Ernst and Elizabeth NIEMEYER KUCK. On March
1, 1905, he married Sarah LAMMERS who died June 22, 1958.
Surviving are six children, Mrs. Wesley (Viola) EVERSMAN,
R.R.1, New Knoxville; Sylvanus KUCK, New Knoxville; Mrs.
Albert (Marcella) CLAUSING, R.R.1, St. Marys; Harold KUCK,
North Miami, Florida; Orloe KUCK, Lima, and Mrs. Ed (Adella)
HEFFNER, Wapakoneta. There are also 14 grandchildren, 17
great grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. He was
the last member of his family, having been preceded in death
by two sisters, a brother, four half sisters, and three half
brothers. For years Mr. KUCK had farmed in the New Knoxville
area. Mr. KUCK was a member of the First United Church of
Christ, New Knoxville and the Adult Bible Class of the
church. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. Funeral
services are arranged for 2 p.m. Monday in the First United
Church of Christ, New Knoxville, with the Rev. Kenneth H.
Worthman to officiate. Interment will follow in Pilger Ruhe
Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vornholt Funeral home in
New Knoxville anytime Sunday and until 11 a.m. Monday when
the body will be moved to the church to lie in state until
the hour of rites.

23- Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth KUCK, age 74, wife of Theodore H.
KUCK, died at 2:50 a.m. Sunday at St. Rita's Hospital, Lima,
where she had been removed a few days earlier from her home
here. She had been suffering with complications for four
weeks. Mrs. KUCK was born Dec. 10, 1883, near New Knoxville,
the daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth MECKSTROTH
LAMMERS. On March 1, 1905 she was married to Theodore H. KUCK
with whom she was privileged to celebrate their golden
wedding anniversary three years ago. Left to mourn her death
in addition to her husband are six children, Mrs. Wesley
(Viola) EVERSMAN, R.R. 1, New Knoxville, Sylvanus T. KUCK,
R.R.1, New Knoxville, Mrs. Albert (Marcella) CLAUSING, R.R.2
St. Marys, Harold KUCK, Miami, Fla., Orloe KUCK, Lima, and
Mrs. Ed (Adella) HEFFNER, Wapakoneta, two brothers, William
LAMMERS, St. Marys and Henry LAMMERS, New Knoxville, and a
sister, Mrs. Herman SCHROLUCKE, Sidney, 14 grandchildren and
four great grandchildren. There are many friends. She was a
member of the First United Church of Christ (E&R), the
German Bible Class and the Ladies Aid. Funeral services will
be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Church of
Christ (E&R) with the Rev. F.J. Lowenbergh officiating.
Burial will take place in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may
call at the Vornholt Funeral Home, New Bremen, after Tuesday
noon until 11 a.m. Wednesday when the body will be taken to
the church to lie there in state until the hour of the
services.

Information: New Knoxville, July 29-William H. KUCK residing
four miles northeast of New Knoxville passed to his reward
Friday, July 28th at noon at the age of 59 years, 28 days.
The cause of his demise was cancer of the liver and bowels
with which he suffered acutely for the past three months. Mr.
KUCK was born July 1, 1974 in New Knoxville. His parents were
Ernst and Elisabeth (NIEMEYER) KUCK. He was batized and
reared in the faith and teaching of the Reformed Church to
which faith he was loyal to the last. His mother after the
death of Mr. KUCK married Mr. Ernst HUELSMEYER, whose death
occurred about a year ago. In March 1899, Mr. KUCK united in
wedlock with Miss Anna HOGE. This union was blessed with four
children of whom one died in infancy. He leaves to mourn his
departure his bereaved widow and three children: Edwin KUCK,
at home, Mrs. Ernst (Melinda) HEHR, New Bremen, and Rev.
Julius KUCK, Kansas City, Mo., one brother, Theodore H. KUCK,
three miles southeast of New Knoxville, a sister Mrs. Henry
(Lena) HOFFMAN, New Bremen and the following half brothers
and half sisters: Geo. K. KUCK, New Knoxville, Benj.
HUELSMEYER, Botkins, Mrs. Sam (Elisabeth) ENGEL, Anna, Mrs.
Henry (Sarah) "Hoge" (should be HOWE),
Kettlersville, Mrs. Harry WIEHE, New Bremen, and a large
circle of friends and acquaintances. Funeral has temporarily
been arranged for Monday at 1:30 from his late residence and
at 2:00 p.m. at the church. This is definite if agreeable to
Dr. Kunst who today chanced to be away on a trip to
Cincinnati and could not be consulted.

1968 at 1:45 p.m. in the Lone Pine Nursing Home, New Bremen.
She was born March 25, 1896 in New Knoxville to Ernst and
Laura KUCK. She was married in September 1922 to Leo
KUHLHORST, who died in 1949. Surviving are two children, June
KUHLHORST of New Bremen and Walter KUHLHORST of Lucasville;
five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and a
brother, Walter KUCK of Stewart, Fla. Mrs. KUHLHORST has
always been a homemaker. Graveside services will be held
Monday at 1 p.m. at Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New Knoxville
with Mrs. KUHLHORST's grandson, the Rev. Neal KUHLHORST,
officiating. There will be no visitation. Gilberg Funeral
Home in New Bremen is in charge of arrangements.

Twonship, Shelby County to William and Sarah (SETTLAGE)
ELSHOFF. On April 29, 1927 she married Leroy B. KUHLMAN and
he died Dec. 21, 1979. She is survived by a son and daughter-
in-law, Lee and JoAnn KUHLMAN, New Knoxville; four grandsons
and wives, Mark and Elisabeth KUHLMAN, Cresent Springs,
Kentucky,; John and Joan KUHLMAN, Batesville, Indiana; Stven
and Rebecca KUHLMAN, Cincinnati; Paul and Benita KUHLMAN,
Avon, South Dakota; and five great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Ben, Lewis,
August, Harry ELSHOFF and two sisters, Hilda and Mary. Mrs.
KUHLMAN, a homemaker was a member of First United Church of
Christ, New Knoxville, where she was a member of the Women's
Guild, and also taught Sunday School for many years. She was
a graduate of New Knoxville High School. Services will be

Obituary / Additional Information: Leroy B. KUHLMAN, 74,
of 104 W. Spring St. New Knoxville, died at 7:55 p.m. Friday
in Joint Township District Memorial Hospital. He had been in
failing health for five years and had been hospitalized from
time to time the past two years. Mr. KUHLMAN was president of
the Peoples Savings Bank of New Knoxville. Born April 16,
1905 in New Knoxville, he was the son of Herman and Amalia
(LUTTERBEIN) KUHLMAN. On April 29, 1927 he was married to
Matilda ELSHOFF, who survives with a son Lee KUHLMAN, New
Knoxville, four grandsons; four sisters, Mrs. Henry (Meta)
SHOPPMAN, New Haven, Ind.; and Mrs. Herman (Alvina) HOLL,
Mrs. William (Araminta) THIEMAN and Mrs. Oliver (Mildred)
VORDERMARK, all of New Knoxville and a brother, Norman
KUHLMAN, St. Marys. Four brothers, Henry, Reinhard, Arthur,
and Lawrence KUHLMAN and three sisters, Mrs. William (Ida)
WELLMAN, Mrs. Julius (Selma) EVERSMAN and Mrs. Roy (Clara)
HEADAPOHL preceded Mr. KUHLMAN in death. An active member of
the First United Chnurch of Christ, he also belonged to the
Kiwanis Club and the New Knoxville Civic Association which
named him Citizen of the Year in 1977. Mr. KUHLMAN served as
church treasurer for many years and was a member of the State
of Ohio Division of anks. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday
in the church with the Rev. Richard W. Sather officiating.
Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe Cememtery, New Knoxville.
Friends may call at the Vornholt Funeral Home, New Knoxville,
from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and at the church form 11 a.m.
Monday until the time of services.

Mrs. Matilda M. LAMMERS, 89, of New Knoxville, died at 12:30
a.m. today in Joint Township Memorial Hospital where she had
been a patient for the past three weeks. Death was due to
complications after a two year illness. Born in Shelby
County, August 2, 1883, she was the daughter of Frederick
Henry and Sophia MECKSTROTH FLEDDERJOHN. On March 12 1907 she
was married to Fred W. LAMMERS who died in 1962. Three
children survive. They are the Rev. Mr. Paul W. LAMMERS,
Center Point, Ind., Mrs. Olaf (Tabitha) HOELSCHER,
Cincinnati; and Silas O. Lammers of R.R. 1, New Knoxville.
Ten grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. One son,
Victor, died at the age of 14. Also surviving are the
following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Wesley (Elizabeth)
LAMMERS, New Knoxville; Mrs. Ben (Wilhelmina) WIERWILLE, New
Knoxville; Herman FLEDDERJOHN, Toledo, and Reinhart
FLEDDERJOHN, Scottsdale, Ariz. Two brothers, Henry and Silas
and three sisters, Mrs. Louis (Caroline) EVERSMAN, Mrs.
William (Lydia) RODEHEFFER and Mrs. Emma COOK are deceased.
Mrs. LAMMERS was a member of the First United church of
Christ in New Knoxville and was active in the Ladies Aid, the
Bible Class and the Women's Guild of the church. Funeral
services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the church
with the Rev. Mr. Kenneth Worthman officiating. Burial will
be in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vornholt
Funeral Home, New Knoxville from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Wednesday and until 11:00 a.m. Thursday when the body will be
taken to the church to lie in state until the time of
services.

formerly of Apt D., Amherst Village, Sidney, died on Friday,
Novemer 13, at 2:30 a.m. in the Sunny Acres Nursing Home,
Sidney. He was born on September 4, 1894 in Auglaize County.
On February 12, 1920 he married Louetta KOLTHOFF who
survives. Other survivors include one son, Robert,
Titusville, Fla. and one sister, Mrs. Salome NIEMEYER, Lima.
He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Paul United
Church of Christ, Sidney. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Tuesday in the Church with the Rev. Robert Thomas
officiating. Burial will be in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery in New
Knoxville. Friends may call at the Cromes Funeral Home,
Sidney on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and on Tuesday

November 22, 1917, she married Henry H. LAMMERS, who is
deceased. Mrs. LAMMERS is survived by two daughters, Mrs.
Elmer (Martha) HOELSCHER and Mrs. Vern (Joann) FELDWISCH,
both of New Knoxville; seven grandchildren; 13 great
grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one half-
sister, Mary KUCK of Sidney; and one sister-in-law, Sevilla
HENKENER of New Knoxville. She was preceded in death by one
son, Lewis LAMMERS, two brothers, Walter and Cornelius
HENKENER, and two sisters, Henrietta HUELSMEYER and Emma
HENKENER. A homemaker, Mrs. LAMMERS was an avid seamstress.
She was a member of First United Church of Christ, New
Knoxville, where she was a member of the Women's Guild and

Lima Memorial Hospital of surgery complications. He had been
a patient for two weeks. Born November 10, 1894 near New
Knoxville, he was the son of Lewis H. and Elizabeth
(MECKSTROTH) LAMMERS. He was married November 22, 1917 to
Viola W. HENKERNER, who survives. Other survivors include a
son, Lewis, of New Knoxville; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer
(Martha) HOELSCHER and Mrs. Vernon (Joann) FELDWISCH, both of
New Knoxville; seven grandchildren; and eight great
grandchildren. Three sisters and a brother have preceded him
in death. Mr. LAMMERS was a retired farmer. He was a member
of the First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, where
the services will be held Wednesday, September 2, with the
Rev. Richard W. Sather officiating. Burial will be in Pilger
Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may call at the Vornholt Funeral
Hoome, New Knoxville, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and
on Wednesday after 11 a.m. at the church Memorials may be

Elizabeth LAMMERS 74, wife of Louis H. LAMMERS, died at 3:15
this morning at her home one and a half miles southeast of
New Knoxville. Mrs. LAMMERS was one of the best known and
highly esteemed citizens in that community. She was a
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William MECKSTROTH and was born near
New Knoxville, February 6, 1858. She was united in marriage
of March 1, 1883, to Louis H. LAMMERS, who survives, together
with two sons and two daughters, Henry and William LAMMERS,
Mrs. Theo. H. KUCK and Mrs. Herman SCHROLUCKE all residing in
New Knoxville. Mrs. LAMMERS was a devout member of the German
Reformed church at New Knoxville, where services will be held
at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Dr. L.J. Kunst officiating.
Burial in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery.

16-Lewis H. LAMMERS, age 81, widely known retired farmer who
lived all of his life on his farm one mile southeast of New
Knoxville, In Washington Township, died of apoplexy at 7:30
o'clock Monday night. Death came suddenly although he had
been in failing health for some time. Mr. LAMMERS was born on
the same farm where his death occurred. He was born September
24, 1858, a son of the late Henry and Elizabeth WIERWILLE
LAMMERS. On March 1, 1883, he married Elizabeth MECKSTROTH
who preceded him in death on October 14, 1932. Surviving Mr.
LAMMERS are four children, Mrs. Theodore H. (Sarah) KUCK, St.
Marys Rt.3, William L. LAMMERS, Botkins R.R.1, Mrs. H. G.
(Alwina) SCHROLUCKE, Sidney, and Henry H. LAMMERS, at home.
One daughter Emma, died at the age of two years. Mrs. Charles
A. MECKSTROTH, Botkins, R.R.1 and Mrs. Fredericka VORDERMARK,
New Knoxville, are sisters. There are 15 grandchildren and
six great grandchildren. Mr. LAMMERS was a lifelong member of
the First Evangelical Reformed church at New Knoxville.
Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30
o'clock at his late residence and at 2 o'clock at the
Evangelical Reformed church with Dr. O. B. Moor officiating.
Burial will take place in Pilger Ruhe Cemetery. Friends may
call Wednesday evening at the residence.

He was born Dec. 7, 1918, in New Knoxville, to Henry and
Viola (HENKENER) LAMMERS. On Dec. 4, 1942, he married Wilma
SCHMIDT, who survives. He is also survived by his mother in

Information: Charles E. (Buck) STROH, 51, Washington Pike,
Route 2, Wapakoneta, died at 9:05 a.m. Monday at Riverside
Methodist Hospital, Columbus. He had been a patient since
June 4. Death was due to leukemia. Born July 3, 1924 in
Moulton, he was the son of Elmer J. and Emma L. DETJEN STROH.
They survive. On March 18, 1946 he married Louise DOUTE and
she is also living. Also surviving are two daughters, Mary
STROH, Columbus; Mrs. Greg (Susan) HUGHES, Cambridge,; one
son, David STROH, student at OSU, Columbus, his mother-in-
law, Mrs. Fred DOUTE, St. Marys; one sister, Mrs. Howard

various groups. He worked as a farmer. Mr. STROH belonged to

Club, the Volunteer Firemans Mutual Benefit Association, the
National Farmers Union, and the Moulton Gun Club. He was
manager and a former player on the Moulton Merchants softball
team. He served as past president of the Trinity Lutheran
Mens Brotherhood and was the director of the Detjen Grain
Compny, Moulton. Private services will be held Thursday
morning in Trinity Lutheran Church, Moulton. Burial will be
in Elm Grove Cemetery, St. Marys. Friends may call at the

morning at her residence. She had suffered an extended heart
illness. She was born August 20, 1893 in Auglaize County.

Dec. 18, 1913 to Herman STROH who survives with two
daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Fentrus) BURK, RR1, Wapakoneta and
Mrs. Burdette (Dorothy) METZGER, RR4, Wapakoneta and five

"Richie" BOWERSOCK, 74, of Lima, died at 3:20 p.m.
Sunday, October 8, 2000 at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born May 29, 1926, in Logan Township, Auglaize County,
to Lewis Vere and Carolyn Fredericka (ZERKEL) BOWERSOCK. On
Oct. 26, 1951, he married Joan M. THOMPSON, who survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Gregory L.
BOWERSOCK, Robin L. (Cheryl) BOWERSOCK and Jeffery B.
(Brenda) BOWERSOCK, all of Lima; nine grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert (Dorothy) BOWERSOCK
of Wapakoneta and three sisters, Lois Vere POSEY of Harrison,
Mich., Jennie (Rev. Leonard) SPACHT of Wapakoneta and Norma
Jean GREEN of Buckland. He was preceded in death by one son,
Richard Dean BOWERSOCK, one brother, Ralph BOWERSOCK and two
sisters, Eunice RITTER and Lila BOWERSOCK. Mr. BOWERSOCK
served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, and
retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 21
years of military service. He also retired as manager of
Defiance Commons in Wapakoneta. He was a member of the
Buckland United Church of Christ, American Legion Post 96,
the Auglaize County Genealogical Society, of which he was
vice president and former president, and the First Families
of Van Wert and Auglaize Counties. He was a volunteer at St.
Rita's Medical Center in Lima, and was the "Volunteer of
the Year" in 2000, and received the valor award in 2000.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Bayliff
and Son Funeral Home in Cridersville, with the Rev. Carl
Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Buckland Cemetery,
where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of
Foreign Wars Post 1275. The family will receive friends from
7-9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at
the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the
family.

Indianapolis, Ind.-Rev. Paul LAMMERS, 85, 3525 E. Hanna Ave.,
died Sunday Aug. 29, 1993, at Altenheim Community. He was
born July 4, 1908, near Julesburg, Colo. to Fred and Matilda
(FLEDDERJOHN) LAMMERS. In 1934 he married Alice Marian
WIERWILLE, who survives. He is also survived by two
daughters, Jean NIEWALD and Lois BAUR, a son, Mark; eight
grandchildrren; and a brother, Silas. He was preceded in
death by two brothers, Silas and Victor, and a sister,
Tabitha. Rev. LAMMERS retired in 1974 after 32 years as a
minister for the United Church of Christ. The LAMMERS family
moved to a farm near New Knoxville, Ohio, in 1911 and he was
confirmed at First Reformed (First UCC) Church in New
Knoxville March 25, 1923. He was a 1927 graduate of New
Knoxville High School, a 1931 graduate of Heidelberg College
in Tiffin, Ohio and a 1934 graduate of Central Seminary (now
part of Eden Seminary) in Dayton, Ohio. Rev. LAMMERS served
rural and small town churches in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.
He served on the National Heifer Project, Church World
Service, C.R.O.P. and other relief programs and helped
collect milk goats for and visited Ghana, W. Africa in 1963.
His hobbies included organic gardening, genetic
experimentation wih edible soybeans, breeding and training
border collies, reading and senior citizen activities.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at G.H. Hermann
Madison Avenue Funeral Home and at 1 p.m. Thursday at the
First United Church of Christ in New Knoxville. Friends may

two years, died at 9:23 a.m. today in Joint Township District
Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb 15, 1893 northwest of New

For most of his life, he resided on the farm, where he was
born. On Sept. 14, 1916, he married Ruth BROCKMAN who died
March 12, 1958. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Robert

Survivors are a son and his wife, Tom and Flo of Greenwood,
Ind.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Deceased
are two infant daughters, a brother, Hugo KELLERMEYER, and
two sisters, Alma PRESAR and Norma MEACHAM. She was a
homemaker and a former telephone operator in St. Marys. She
was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and its
Womens' Guild, New Bremen, and a charter member of New Bremen

three great-grandchildren. He was retired as the executive
director of Downtown YMCA, Cleveland, and was a member of
First Presbyterian Church, St. Marys, Kiwanis Club, and YMCA
Retired Directors. He was a graduate of Otterbein College.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at Otterbein St. Marys Campus
Center, the Rev. Keith Kivlin officiating. Burial is at

Noble Road, died of a heart attack at 6:10 p.m. Saturday, May
14, 1988, in the emergency room at Joint Township District
Memorial Hospital where he had been transported from his
residence by a St. Marys Fire Department ambulance. He was
born Feb. 27, 1918, in Wendelin, Ohio, to William J. and
Katherine (TOBE) POST. On Jan. 10, 1945, in St. Henry, he
married Rita HEITKAMP, who survives. He is also survived by a
daughter, Mrs. Ron R. (Phyllis) WARNECKE, Elida; four sons,
Daniel, Spencerville; Allen, Celina; Robert and Kenneth, both
of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren; four sisters Emma WHITE,
Dayton; Viola ERNST, Midland; Christine JACOBS, Sidney;

Washington Township, Auglaize County, the daughter of William
and Ann HOLTKAMP SCHROER. On Nov. 2, 1935, she married Howard
G. KUCK, who survives. Mrs. KUCK was employed at Goodyear
Tire and Rubber. She was a member of the New Knoxville
Historical Society, First United Church of Christ, and its
Womens Guild. She sang in the church choir for over 60 years.
She was a 1928 graduate of New Knoxville High School. Other
survivors include one brother, Leonard SCHROER of New
Knoxville. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First

heart attack Wednesday at 5:27 p.m. at Joint Township
District Hospital, St. Marys, where she had been a patient
one day. Born September 28, 1894 in New Knoxville, she was
the daughter of Henry and Fredericka (SCHROER) STUKENBROK. On
May 7, 1914, she was married to Benjamin NIEMEYER, who
preceded her in death on February 29, 1976. Surviving are a
daughter, Mrs. Norville (Joyce) FREYMUTH, of Rt. 6,
Wapakoneta; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William
(Mahalia) NUESMEYER, of St. Marys; and Mrs. Ferd (Selma)
LUTTERBECK, of New Knoxville. A grandson and a sister
preceded her in death. Mrs. NIEMEYER was a member of the
First United Methodist Church, New Knoxville; the Women's

his home following an apparent heart attack. Born in New
Knoxville on May 5, 1900, he was the son of Henry H. and Anna

R. NIEMEYER, 80, of 309 S. East St., New Knoxville, died
Monday, May 23, 1994, at 5:25 a.m. at St. Joseph Medical
Center, Fort Wayne, Ind., of complications after surgery. She
was born October 23, 1913, in New Knoxville, the daughter of
Louis and Amanda (KATTMAN) MECKSTROTH. On December 27, 1941,
she married Allen NIEMEYER, who died April 20, 1973. Mrs.
NIEMEYER is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Larry
and Karen NIEMEYER of New Knoxville; one daughter and son-in-
law, Wayne and Karen KETTLER of Coldwater; and three
granchildren, Kristine URENOVITCH of Toledo, Nicole KETTLER,
a student at Miami University, and Cory KETTLER, a student at
Bowling Green University. She was preceded in death by one
brother, Louis MECKSTROTH, and one sister, Mrs. Alfred
(Marian) HENSCHEN. Mrs. NIEMEYER had been a registered nurse
at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, for
more than 25 years. She was a member of First United Church
of Christ, New Knoxville. She was also a member of the New
Knoxville Historical Society and Hawthorne Chapter 119, Order
of the Eastern Star. She was a 1931 graduate of New Knoxville
High School. She also graduated from the Deaconess Hospital,
Cincinnati, where she received her nurses training. Funeral

Church of Christ, New Knoxville, with Rev. David Hunt

Cherry Lane, Wapakoneta, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 28,
1988, in the emergency room of Joint Township District
Memorial Hospital in St. Marys, following an apparent heart
attack. He was born August 19, 1922, in New Knoxville, the
son of Edward and Lydia (ELSHOFF) NIEMEYER. His mother
survives in New Knoxville. On January 13, 1946, he married
Marjean V. KOCH, who survives in Wapakoneta. Also surviving
are four sons, Craig A. NIEMEYER of Wapakoneta, John F.
NIEMEYER of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, David L. NIEMEYER of
Monroe, Michigan, and Mark E. NIEMEYER of Celina; one
daughter Susan K. NIEMEYER of Wapakoneta; five grandchildren;
one brother, Donald NIEMEYER of New Knoxville; one sister,
Ruth NIEMEYER of New Knoxville. Mr. NIEMEYER retired in 1984
following 37 years of service to G.A. Wintzer & Son
Company where he was a driver buyer for the company. He also
was a barber with Packers Barber Shop in Wapakoneta for
several years. A veteran of the United States Army, he served
during World War II. Mr. NIEMEYER was a life member of VFW
Post 8445 in Wapakoneta, a member of the Wapakoneta Eagles
691, the Wapakoneta Senior Citizens, the American Association
of Retired Persons, and the Auglaize Fish and Game Club.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2,
in the Patrick Heinl Chapel of Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home
in Wapakoneta. Burial will follow in Resthaven Memory Garden.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7

who is deceased. Mrs. NIEMEYER is survived by one brother,
Carl S. MILLER of Waynesfield; and one sister, Edith G.
MILLER of Waynesfield. She was preceded in death by one
sister Carol Maxine MILLER. Mrs. NIEMEYER had been a teacher
in the New Knoxville and Peninsula School Systems. She was a
graduate of Wittenburg College. She was a member of the
Waynesfield United Methodist Church and belonged to the
Waynesfield Garden Club and Ohio Garden Club. Graveside

81, of 904 N. Spruce St., St. Marys, died at 11:54 p.m.
Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, in Valley Nursing Home from an
extended illness. He was born Sept 6, 1918 at St. Marys to
William L. and Agetha TIMMERMAN VOGEL. He married on Jan 24,
1945 to Betty I. TESTER. She survives. Also surviving are his
son Dennis L. VOGEL, daughter-in-law, Margaret A. VOGEL and
grandchildren, Megan, Deena and Derek VOGEL. Preceding him in
death were four brothers, Vernon VOGEL, Frederick VOGEL Sr.,
Charles VOGEL and Eugene VOGEL, and a sister, Helen HOVERMAN.
Mr. VOGEL was a 1936 graduate of Memorial High school, served
four years in the Air Force during World War II, was employed
for 25 years for the Auglaize County Farm Bureau and finished
his career as a Nationwide Agent from 1964-77. He was a
lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church at St. Marys
where he served on the Vestry, taught Sunday School and
served on the building committee. He was also a former member
of the City Planning Commission, served on Project 60 and was
a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Zion Lutheran
Church with the Rev. Joachim Wilck officiating. Burial will
be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. Thursday in Miller Funeral Home, St. Marys. Preferred
memorials are the Zion Lutheran Church Endowment Fund and St.
Marys City Rescue Squad.

Cleora SCHMIEDER, 78, 149 S. Main St., died at home Thursday,
October 14, 1999. She was born June 5, 1921, in Minster,
daughter of George and Caroline A. (BUDDE) SCHMIEDER. She is
survived by a nephew, James LUCKMAN of Victor, N.Y., and two
nieces, Carol HEINECHEN of Portland, Ore. and Patricia JAQUES
of Canfield. Seven sisters and a brother preceded her in
death. Ms. SCHMIEDER was a member of St. Augustine Catholic
Church in Minster. She worked over 37 years at the former
Autocraft Box Corp. in Minster. Her body was cremated. A
Memorial Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the
church with the Rev. Thomas Brenberger officiating.
Arrangements are being handled by the Gilberg Funeral Home in
New Bremen.
