New Bremen-Pastor Emeritus Rev. Reinhart Ernest ESHMEYER, 90,
of here died Feb 26, in Mercy Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa. He
was born May 2, 1898 near New Knoxville. He first married
Aurelia DICKMAN who is deceased. He then married Elba BUTTS
who is also deceased. Survivors include three daughters, Ruth
KING of Akron, Donna GILLIOM of Des Moines, Iowa, and Nancy
GORBICS of College Park, Md; a brother Paul ESHMEYER of Fort
Collins, Colo; and a sister, Clara ESHMEYER of Toledo.
ESHMEYER was a graduate of Heidelberg College in Tiffin and
Central Theological Seminary of Dayton. He was ordained into
the Christian minstry in 1924 and retired in 1963. His last
parish was St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Lansing,
Mich. He also served churches in Fremont, Fort Seneca,
Bascom, Bettsville, Cleveland, Bloomville, and Akron. He had
served on numerous civic and church boards including the
board of trustees of Heidelberg College, Fort Wayne
Children's Home (Crossroads) board of trustees and the
greater Lansing, Mich. Ministerial Association of which he
was president. He taught classes in oil painting for 31 years
at Camp Miniwanca near Shelby Mich., and had written several
books. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at
Gilberg Funeral Home. Private burial will be in German
Protestant Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to
St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Lansing, Mich., or the
American Youth Foundation (Camp Miniwanca).

Additional Information: New Bremen- Pearly E. (Pat) WEINBERG,
79, of here, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday at Piqua Memorial
Hospital following an extended illness. He was born Nov 18,
1909, in New Bremen, the son of William and Emma SCHAEFER
WEINBERG. On Feb. 6, 1959, he married Margaret Eileen
JACOMET, who survives. Mr. WEINBERG retired in 1974 from
Stamco in New Bremen. He was a member of Home Benefit
Association of New Bremen, St. Paul united church of Christ
and its 25 year club. He was also a Navy veteran of World War
II. Survivors also include two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Betty)
KETTLER of New Bremen and Mrs. Robert (Ruby) HILL of Tipp
City. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Gilberg Funeral
Home, New Bremen, Rev. Dr. Wade Schemmel officiating. Burial
will be in German Protestant Cemetery. Friends may call until
4 and 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Memorial
contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or a
charity of the donor's choice.

96, died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Shane Hill Nursing Home,
Rockford. She was born August 6, 1889, in St. Marys, the
daughter of Fritz and Dorthea THIELK SUDMAN. On Nov 14, 1918,
she married Clarence FRAHM, who died Nov. 25, 1959. Mrs.
FRAHM was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John Lutheran
Church. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Richard
(Frances) RUPERT of St. Marys and Mrs. Lester (Mary) MILLER
of Mendon; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. John Lutheran
Church, Rev. Robert Carter officiating. Burial will be in

Esther A. GLYNN, 83, of Citrus Heights, Calif. died Sunday at
Eskaton Manzanita Manor in Carmichael, Calif. She was born
Sept 8, 1901, in Minster, the daughter of Joseph and
Josephine FORTMAN HAUSFELD. She married Peter Leo GLYNN, who
is deceased. Mrs. GLYNN was a retired office clerk at
Germains Florist in Citrus Heights, Calif. She was a member
of Montebello Catholic Church in Montebello, Calif. Survivors
include three daughters, Inez MOORE of Bakersfield, Calif.,
Lois MACY of Roseville, Calif., and Irene BYARD of Redding,
Calif.; two sons Thomas E. GLYNN of Anaheim, Calif. and
Robert A. GLYNN of Citrus Heights, Calif.; 17 grandchildren;
13 great grandchildren; and a sister, Elsie MELTZ of
Trotwood. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday
at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Rev. Leo A. Hoying

of Cridersville died at 2:17 p.m. Monday in the emergency
room of Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born March 11, 1906,
in Uniopolis, the daughter of Homer and Sadie BIGELOW CONNER.
She married Charles STRASBURG, who is deceased. Mrs.
STRASBURG and her husband operated a general store in Elmira
Ore., until five years ago. Survivors include three brothers,
George CONNER of Lima, Paul CONNER of Lima, and Gene CONNER
of Cridersville; and a sister, Evelyn CUNNINGHAM of Russells
Point; and an aunt, Ruth RIDENOUR, with whom she resided.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Bayliff and Son
Funeral Home, Cridersville, Rev. Louis Bell officiating.
Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, near Uniopolis. Friends
may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Additional Information: St. Marys-Robert E. FRIDEGER, 70, of
here, died at 12:27 p.m. Monday at Valley Nursing Home. He
was born April 1, 1919, in Geyer, Auglaize County, the son
of Felix and Alvaretta BODKIN FRIDEGER. On Nov. 26, 1952, he
married Geraldine Ruth YOUNG who died Dec. 1, 1984. On Dec.
18, 1988, he married Kay SHIPMAN EVERSMAN, who survives. Mr.
FRIDEGER was retired from the Army with 22 years of active
duty. He as also retired from the Army Reserve, Midwest
Electric and St. Marys Municipal Power Plant. He was a member
of Fraternal Order of Eaagles 767, Amercian Legion Post 323,
and veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6772 of Spencerville.
Survivors also include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Lynda)
CHIVINGTON of Ft. Wayne, Ind; two stepdaughters; Dr. Kristina
L. GREENWOOD of Indianapolis and Kimberly L. JOHNSTON of
Mechanicsburg, Pa;, a step-son, Kurt L EVERSMAN of Lancaster;
two grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a brother,
C. Hubert FRIDEGER of St. Marys. Services willl be at 10:30

Township District Memorial Hospital where he was taken from
Auglaize Acres earlier in the day. Mr. KATTERHEINRICH was
born March 24, 1903, in Washington Township, Auglaize County,
the son of W.G. and Mary LAGEMAN KATTERHEINRICH. Mr.
KATTERHEINRICH had been employed by Crane and McMahon,
Kattman Feed Store and Auglaize School Workshop. He was a
member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church. Survivors
include two sisters, Mrs. Milton (Mabel) KATTMAN and Mrs.
Arnold (Martha) MECKSTROTH, both of St. Marys. Services will
be at 11 a.m. Monday at Wayne Street Methodist Church, St.
Marys, Rev. John C. Wine officiating. Burial will be in

75 of here, died at 12:40 a.m. today at Joint Township
District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys, following an extended
illness. He had been a patient at Valley Nursing Home in St.
Marys. He was born July 23, 1914, in Auglaize County, the son
of Benjamin and Bertha HOGE JAUERT. On Dec. 19, 1936, he
married Ruby HOELSCHER who died Aug. 24, 1978. On May 24,
1979, he married Mildred DEERHAKE HIDEGKUTI, who survives.
Survivors also include two sons, Larry JAUERT of Findley and
James JAUERT of Cridersville; a step daughter, Mrs. David
(Julia) JONES of Reston, Va.; a stepson, Stephen HIDEGKUTI of
Columbus; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; a
brother Elmer JAUERT of Wapakoneta; and two sisters, Mrs.
Willis (Leona) EGBERT of Botkins and Mrs. Carl (La Vera)
WERLING of Wapakoneta. Mr. JAUERT was a retired farmer and
co-owner of Jauert-Hoelscher Implement Co. He was a 1931

Information: Wapakoneta-Aubrey G. ROMSHE, 80, of here, died
monday afternoon at his home. He was born Nov. 2, 1908, in
Auglaize County, the son of Ferdnando C. and Anna FRANK
ROMSHE. On June 24, 1939, he married Wilma Jane WIRES who
died in 1973. In November 1975, he married Burnetta BROOKHART
who survives. Mr. ROMSHE was a maintenance worker at Todco
Door Co. in Marion. He attended Bethlehem Christian Union
Church and was a member of Elks Lodge 1190 of Wapakoneta,
Wapakoneta Lion's Club, and Brand's Lake Fishing Club. He was
a 1927 graduate of Whiteman's School and had been a member of
Basketball and Baseball Two-mile Tigers in Wapakoneta.
Survivors also include a son, Aubrey (Steve) ROMSHE of
Marion; two stepsons, James MORGAN of St. Clairsville and Tom
MORGAN of Waukegan, Ill.; three grandchildren; six step-
grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and a brother,
Howard F. ROMSHE of Wapakoneta. Graveside services will be at
1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Marion Cemetery, Rev. Jonathon Edwards

Wapakoneta, the son of Karl and May PATTERSON KOCH. On July
7, 1932, he married Anna Louise FISHER who survives. Mr. KOCH
was president of Old Vienna Brewery and Consolidated Bottling
Co. (Pepsi-Cola), both of Wapakoneta. He was founder and part
owner of G and K Distributing Co. of Lima. He was also former
chairman of the board of directors for First National Bank of
Wapakoneta. He was a graduate of Blume High School and
Wittenburg University. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta
Fraternity, Wapakoneta Elks Lodge 1170, American Legion
Auglaize Post 330, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445, Hamer
Lodge 167 Free and Accepted Masons, Ancient and Accepted
Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton and Antioch Temple of
Columbus. He was a former member of St. Paul United Church of
Christ and a member of Venice (Fla) United Church of Christ.
He was also a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors also
include a son, Karl W. KOCH of Fredericksburg, Texas; two
daughters, Kristine MUSSELMAN of LaJolla, Calif., and

Information: Waynesfield-Ralph C. LINE, 82, of here, died at
12:51 p.m. Monday in the emergency room of Lima Memorial
Hospital. He was born Oct. 23, 1906, in St. Johns, the son of
Edward and Clara BAGGS LINE. On June 22, 1927, he married
Dorothy FIKE who survives. Mr. LINE was retired from Ohio
Department of Natural Resources after 14 years of service. He
was also a VIP at Indian Lake State Park for four years. He
formerly served as president of Waynesfield Village Council
and was a member of Waynesfield United Methodist Church.
Survivors also include two sons, Rex E. LINE of Waynesfield;
and James R. LINE of Dexter, Mich.; four grandchildren; six
greatgrandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a sister,
Edith GERSTNER of Cridersville. Services will be at 11 a.m.

23, 1925, he married Viola L. CLUTE, who died July 26, 1988.
A retired farmer, Mr. WIERWILLE retired from Copeland Corp.
He was a member of First United Church of Christ in New
Knoxville. Survivors include three sons, Thomas WIERWILLE of
St. Mays, James WIERWILLE and Ned WIERWILLE, both of New
Knoxville; one daughter, Norma SMITH of Knoxville; 11

St. Marys- Roger V. RUPERT, 45, died at 3:40 p.m. Monday in
the emergency room of Joint Township District Memorial
Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was
born Jan. 13, 1939, in Noble township, Auglaize County, the
son of Onie and Corrine HEYWOOD RUPERT. Mr. Rupert had been
employed by Parker-Hannifan Corp. for 12 years. He was a
member of Zion Lutheran Church. He served in Germany with the
U.S. Army and was a member of Robert Lee Griner Post 9289,
Veterans of Foreign wars and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie
767. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Forrest (Margie)
HAYS of St. Marys and Mrs. Steven (Charlene) JONES of Elida.

Obituary / Additional Information: Former Wapakoneta
school teacher, Margaret H. GRAHAM of Pompano Beach, Fla.,
died Monday, June 11, 1990. She was 79 and had resided in
Florida since 1955. Born March 17, 1911, she was the duaghter
of Dr. E.F. HEFFNER and Orel (COLLINS) HEFFNER. In 1945, she
married Ernest GRAHAM who preceded her in death Mrs. GRAHAM
is survived by two brothers, Dr. George P. HEFFNER of Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla., and James E. HEFFNER of Fort Worth, Texas;
a half-brother, Frank O. HEFFNER of Wapakoneta; a half
sister, Mrs. H. Mac (Caroline) TODD of Block Island, R.I.;
and his step-mother, Mrs. Frank (Adella) WILSON of Jackson
Center. An infant brother, Cleon, preceded in death. Mrs.
GRAHAM graduated from Ohio State Univerysity with a master's
degree in education. For 45 years, she had taught in

South Street, New Knoxville, died at 1:35 p.m. Wednesday at
Joint Township Memorial hospital where he had been under
treatment for 10 days. He had been ill for a year, suffering
with a complication of diseases. Mr. ARNETT was employed at
the Landmark elevator. He was born in Shelby county on March
17, 1901, the son of William D. and Magdalena HOLTKAMP
ARNETT. On Jan. 11, 1925, he married Emma WIBBELER, who is
left to mourn his death with two children, William ARNETT of
Wapakoneta and Mrs. John (Lillian) HELLWARTH of Celina; two
grandchildren, Kim and Dana ARNETT, a sister, Mrs. Miriam
SCHNEIDER, West Des Moines, Ia., and a brother, Wilson ARNETT
R.R.2, St. Marys. Mr. ARNETT was a member of the First United
Church of Christ, New Knoxville, and the Churchmen's
Brotherhood and Sunday School Class. Funeral services will be

BAMBAUER, who died August 14, 1972. Survivors include two

for many years. Funeral services will be held in the First

Anthony BERNING, 51, 305 South Washington Street, died at
9:45 p.m. Monday, in Joint Township Memorial Hospital, St.
Marys, where he had been a patient for the past ten days. He
had been ill for a period of two months. Mr. BERNING was a
member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and of the Holy
Name Society of that church. He was an employee of Crown
Controls in New Bremen. Mr. BERNING was born on January 6,
1914, east of Minster in Shelby County, to the late Herman
and Catherine HUECKER BERNING. On December 23, 1936, he
married the former Dorothy HOWE, who survives. Mr. BERNING
also is survived by seven children; James BERNING, Fort
Loramie; Mrs. Don (Lois) DICKE, New Bremen; Miss Norma

He was born May 14, 1902, in St. Marys to Arthur and Agnes
(CRONE) BOYCE. On Aug. 20, 1925, he married Esther HEIL, who
died July 16, 1991. He is survived by two sons and daughters-
in-law, John and Grace, Ohio City; Tom and Judy, Rockford; a
daughter and son-in-law, Russell and Joan WATKINS, Pleasant
Mills, Ind.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; seven
great-grandchildren;and three great-great-grandchildren. He
was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur, Emmet and
Eugene; and a sister, Leona SUCHLAND. Mr. BOYCE was a plumber
and electrician who retired in 1965. He was a member of
Shanes Lodge 377, F.& A.M.. He was a member of First
Presbyterian Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at

R.R. No 2, Wapakoneta, died at 7:45 p.m. Monday in Joint
Township Memorial Hospital of complications. She had been a
patient there since April 19, following a hip fracture. She
was born on October 18, 1886 in Noble Township, Auglaize
County. Her parents were John and Alwina SCHROER GRIESINGER
KORSPETER, who are deceased. On March 27, 1914 she was
married to George BUDDEMEYER who survives with two children,
Guy BUDDEMEYER and Mrs. Charles (Virginia) MILLER, both of
Cincinnati. There are four grandchilren, two sisters; Miss
Clara GRIESINGER of Columbus and Mrs. Bertha CLAUSING of East
Canton, and a step-brother William KORSPETER of R.R. No 2,
Wapakoneta. A son Homer, died in November 1967 and a
daughter, Alma died in 1927. Also preceding her in death were
a sister Mahala KATTER, a brother, August GRIESINGER and a
twin brother who died in infancy. She was a member of the
First United Church of Christ, New Knoxville, from where
funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday. The Rev.
Kenneth H. Worthman will officiate. Burial will be in Pilger

Knoxville, died Tuesday at 5:30 a.m. in Lebanon, Mo of an
apparent heart attack. Born in Moulton on February 2, 1910,
he was the son of Henry and Emma SCHROER BUDDEMEYER. On May
11, 1935, he married Ruth BURRIS who survives. Other

of St. Marys and Mrs. Larry (Rebecca) LONGWORTH of New

Road West, Barryton, Michigan, formerly of St. Marys, died of
an extended illness, at 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 10,1998 at his
residence. He was born Nov. 28, 1914 in Hebron, Ohio to Henry
and Caroline (SILVER) BURDEN. On July 19, 1935 he married the
former Elizabeth "Libby" HEIL, and she died July 7,
1976. He then married Audrey BODIKER KOCH, and she survives.
Other survivors are a son and daughter-in-law, Henry and
Leslie BURDEN, North Ft. Myers, Florida; two daughters,

Charlotte EHRSEM SWEIGART. On Nov. 14, 1948, he married Alice
Janelle FLACK, who survives. Mr. SWEIGART retired after 37
years as a shipping clerk for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He
was a member of Wayne Street United Methodist Church and
Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks 767, of which he was
secretary and a Golden Eagle. He was an ardent horseman and
had race horses at Raceway Park in Toledo for several years.
He was also a member of U.S. Trotting Association and
Auglaize County and Ohio Horseman's Association. He was an

1925, in Auglaize County, the son of Edwin and Grace
BAUMGARDNER DIEDRICH. On August 29, 1945, he married Kathryn
CRUSIE, who survives. Mr. DIEDRICH retired in 1982 as a
pressroom supervisor at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. He was a
member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Fraternal Order
of Eagles Aerie 767 and St. Marys American Legion Post 323.
Survivors also include three sons, Michael W. DIEDRICH and
Edwin R. DIEDRICH, both of St. Marys, and Terry L. DIEDRICH
of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Hershel
(Deborah) WRIGHT of Jackson Center and Mrs. Lyle (Cindy)
KEELING of Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and a
brother, Donald DETRICK of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Services
will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's United Church of
Christ, Rev. Carl J. Mohr officiating. Burial will be in
Resthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call 2 to 5 and 7 to 9
p.m. Sunday at Long and Folk Funeral Home St. Marys Chapel.

Fairhaven Home in Sidney where she had been a patient since
September. She was born April 13, 1891 in Auglaize County

who died July 29, 1954. Mrs. EGBERT was a homemaker and a

area, Alvin C. DICKE, R.R. 1 , New Bremen, died at
approximately 9:30 a.m. today at Joint Township Memorial
Hospital. He died of complications with which he had been
ailing for several months. He was 77. Born October 1, 1895,
in New Bremen, he was the son of Frederick and Malinda BOESEL
DICKE. He was married October 20, 1919, to Emma BARNHART,
with whom he celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in
1969. Mr. DICKE is survived by his wife, four daughters, Mrs.
Woodrow (Elois) WIERWILLE and Mrs. Rolla (Evelyn) WERTS, both
of St. Marys, Mrs. Orville (Louise) WIERWILLE, New Knoxville,
and Mrs. H.T. (Mary ) KUHN, Whitehouse; and a son, Donald
DICKE, R.R. New Bremen; also 14 grandchildren, seven great
grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Jerome CALKINS, Toledo. He
was a former employee of the Minster Machine Company from
which he retired in 1958, and a lifetime member of the St.

1:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, in the Veterans Administration
Hospital, Dayton. He was in the hospital with cancer for
eight months. He was born in New Bremen on June 21, 1926 to

ELSHOFF, age 66, died Sunday at 6:55 p.m. at the residence at
204 Walnut street, New Knoxville. He had been ill for three
months suffering from a stroke and complications. He was
hospitalized for weeks at Memorial hospital here. During his
illness he had been tenderly cared for by his family. Mr.
ELSHOFF was born January 5, 1893 in New Knoxville, the son of
the late William and Sarah SETTLAGE ELSHOFF. On March 8, 1917
he was married to Adella HOLTKAMP and she is left to mourn
his death along with one son, Lester, of New Knoxville; three
grandchildren, James, Kay and Jane; brothers and sisters,
Mrs. Albert (Hilda) SCHULTZ, Rt. 1, St. Marys, Mrs. LeRoy
(Matilda) KUHLMAN, New Knoxville, Lewis ELSHOFF, Rt. 1,
Botkins and Rev. August ELSHOFF of Portland, Oregon and his
stepmother, Mrs. Louise ELSHOFF, New Knoxville. There are
numerous other relatives and many friends. Mr. ELSHOFF was a
member of the First Evangelical and Reformed Church of Christ
in New Knoxville. He had engaged in farming until some time
ago when he retired. He was a lifelong resident of the New
Knoxville community. Funeral services will be held Thursday
