Obituary / Additional
Information: Eliza Jane Jervis-Morris's Obituary as in an
unknown newspaper 1930. She is burried in Walnut Hills
Cemetery near New Hampshire, Auglaize County, Ohio:
Eliza Jane Jervis-Morris, daughter of Thomas and Nancy
Baldwin, was born May 20, 1844, being one of two children
born to this union. A brother William preceded her in death.
Eliza was married to George W. Morris, December 20, 1859, and
to this union were born eleven children, four sons and seven
daughters. Two sons, George and Stephen and two daughters,
Ann and Elmira, preceded her in death.
Those remaining are Samuel Morris of South Manitou, Mich.:
Mrs. Walter Couples of Lima, Mrs. John Stiles of Unionopolis,
Mrs. Frank Barnes, Mrs. W.H. Taylor, Mrs. James Pence all of
near Lakeview, and a son William with whom she lived at her
late residence near Lakeside, and Mrs. Cecil Hoover who was
reared in this home from the age of 2 years. Fifty-nine
grandchildren, 46 of whom are living;60 great grandchildren,
57 of whom are living and one great great grandchild, besides
other relatives and a large number of friends and neighbors,
whom mourn her departure.
Her husband preceded her in death on December 14, 1908, after
which she missed his companionship more than words can
express.
Eliza became a Christian early in life and united with the
United Brethren Church. Later in life, she transferred
membership to the Christian Union Church, and still later in
life she became affiliated with the Church of God, where she
remained firm in her faith and lived a conscientious
Christian life.
She was of a kind and loving disposition, always thoughtful
of the welfare of others and always glad of an opportunity of
lending a helping hand in time of need. She spent a great
deal of her time sewing, and reading her Bible, from which
she received a great deal of comfort and inspiration, also in
singing in her way, her favorite hymn, "Jesus Loves Even
Me", dwelling on the words, "Wonderful things in
the Bible I see."
She departed this life February 15, 1930, being 85 years, 8
months and 25 days of age.

Recluse Died Tuesday - (Nov. 1, 1921) - John HELMLINGER Died
at County Home after Week's Illness Due to Heavy Cold
Contracted
"Exposure suffered last week when he slept in an old
wagon on the Henry VOSSLER farm, north of
Wapakoneta, caused
the death Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock of John L.
HELMLINGER, an aged Clay Township native, at the County Home.
He was taken to the home a week ago and was near death since
that time.
"He was engaged in husking corn at the VOSSLER farm.
His outdoor retreat provided poor shelter for him and he
contracted a heavy cold which resulted in peneumonia.
"He was born in Clay Township, August 17, 1848, and died
at the age of seventy-three years, one month, and fourteen
days. He was the son of Jacob HELMLINGER, a native of
Germany. Little is known of his relatives except that he is
survived by four sons and a daughter. Only three of them are
known, however. They are Mary, a married daughter whose last
place of residence was on a farm near Tiffin, and John and
Frank HELMLINGER, who formerly resided at Tiffin, but
information from there indicated they have gone to Indiana.
These are the only known immediate relatives of the aged man.
"Dr. S.H.SIBERT and family of Fryburg were
closely
acquainted with him, as he was employed there at irregular
intervals for twenty years. He was a wanderer by inclination
and his whereabouts for the last year were known to the SIBERTS. He made his home at the Jacob KUPPER residence in
this city for some time, before going to the VOSSLER farm.
He established sleeping quarters in the delapidated vehicle
and became severely ill through dampness and cold."
